    Hi,
Today a noise started coming from my rear left wheel when i started driving the car. Its a kind of grinding/rubbing noise, very annoying noise!
It gets a small bit worse when turning left or right but it is still there driving straight.

It started this morning but then when i was driving this afternoon (car had been sitting for about an hour or two) there was no noise. Then again tonight the noise was back again.

I'm thinking it might be either the brake pads or maybe cv joint. Anyone able to shed some light on this?

    The car is a 2003 Audi a4 1.9tdi

    Cheers :)

Sounds like your bearings are going. Put your foot on the rear wheel and give it a bit of a shake if you notice a bit of play or a wee noise (helps to do this to both wheels as you can compare and contrast the difference and how far the problem has progressed) it may well be the bearing.

Either way the wheels are the only thing keeping you on the road so get it checked out OP.

    cheers for the reply
i checked the wheel already to see if it was loose but didn't notice any noise coming from it so i will try that again in the morning.
Was going to get it checked out tomorrow anyway, was just trying to prepare myself the shock incase it was something i didnt expect

oh ya any rough price if it is the bearings?

It's probably only the brake pads. If it was a bearing it'd more than likely make more noise when turning one direction and the noise would go when turning the other.
