I just want to check if anyone can recommend somewhere you can buy cheap(ish) glasses online WITHOUT a prescription.

I find it strange that I can but contact lenses online without a prescription and I cant find somewhere similar to get glasses.

goggles4u have been recommended on here before but I have no personal experience of dealing with them.

Bought all my frames online ex demo display frames, saved 100's on them as they were all designer, opticians confirmed they were all genuine when I had the lenses fitted in them here. It's worth a look if & it worked out cheaper if you have your eye on a nice pair of frames.

To be honeset I'm trying to be a total cheapo and avoid the optician totally. I'm happy with my current specs but I just want to have a back up pair.

I only wear them at home in the evenings as I use my contacts when out and about

All websites usually demand you have a current prescription less than 2 years old. If you have a medical card or PRSI you can claim a free eye test and ask your optician for your prescription once it's paid (i.e. paid for by MC or PRSI) for it's your property remember to ask for your PD it's not a requirement on a prescription. Then wait a few weeks and a new Irish owned website will be launched where you can buy frame and lenses complete for €20.00 including p&p

I recently used zennioptical.com for mine and my daughters. We went to our usual optition for a new eye test each as it had been over two years for both of us.

I then purchased five new pair of glasses for her, and a new pair of bi-focals for myself.

Total bill from Zenni Optical including delivery - 86.50 euro. :):)

Remember that one pair were bi-focals !! And the delivery only took a week from ordering. In fact I recieved our new glasses before the cheque for the optition cleared !!
