Would a cheap FTA system bought in England work over here?

    Hi all,

I've used the search function and my guess is yes, but I'm still not 100%

A family friend is moving over here from England for a few months to care for an elderly relative. They have just bought a cheap FTA system from Tesco and he is wondering is it worth bringing with him? From what I can tell it has to point at a certain satellite so the hardware is probably the same as a similarly priced model he'd pick up over here?

I don't have a make or anything, but I'm guessing the answer is a flat yes or no?

I have been ruined by the simplicity of Sky and have absolutely no idea about FTA systems.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Yes is the short answer. If you're after simplicity, then you should look for a 'Freesat' branded box, rather than a free-to-air box.
