Are crooked teeth a turn off?

I was wondering how much of a turn off in a guy is it if he doesnt have a perfect set of teeth, nothing too drastic but obviously crooked?I have debated getting orthodontic treatment for years to correct my bite and straighten my teeth but it will involve oral surgery ,take 2 years and cost 5-10k.
Sometimes I feel like its to much hassel because its not that noticable when I speak but it is when I smile?

I've got braces on when I was about 17/18 and its one of the best decisions I've ever made. My teeth wern't too bad at the time, I just wanted to fix them. Its well worth the money and agony of braces. Nothing compares to being able to smile (for the rest of your life) in confidance, without worrying about your teeth.

Go ahead and get the work done. You won't regret it.

HOWEVER, women are far, far, far more concerned about the CLEANLINESS of your teeth than whether they are crooked or not.

(There is no wriggle room on that. Little furry coats on each tooth is an instant disqualification so don't worry overly much about them being crooked.)

Yes, get them fixed but keeping them clean is the most important part. Also keep them nice and white. Get them whitened and they instantly look straighter.

I think the OP meant oral surgery which is a a lot different to braces although I know with oral surgery you need the braces afterwards

I know this because I have a problem with a large overbit. It has never stopped me meeting nice guys or been a problem, of course people have commented on it.

However my last boyfriend (longterm) left me and I know it was a problem for him. He would often mention I should get them done and his mother mentioned it too. I would often find him having sneaky glances at my teeth, Now I know there were other issues in our breakup but I kinda feel he didnt want to be stuck with someone with bad teeth.

Now for me to have them done involves major surgery, jaws wire together for several mths and braces for several years

I know there are lots of peope that wont mind, ive met them but you will always get someone who will judge a book by its cover

What's the average price for the whitening process?

your teeth are obviously bothering you to the extent that you posted on the Boards so maybe you should get them fixed for your own confidence. the older you get the harder it will be to pluck up the courage to do it. while your young and otherwise fit/healthy it might be the best time to do it. do you think you would ever regret not having them done?

as for girls-im with the previous posters with regards cleanliness of teeth. even a teeth whitening procedure (considerably cheaper than surgery) could boost your self-esteem. most girls look at a guy's overall physique first when deciding if she fancies him or not.

Very dear to get done professionally, but you can get kits in the chemist or buy online for €15-€20. My sister bought the colgate strips online and they are brilliant, think they were €100 or something.

They work ok as a short term thing, I used them once for a few weeks but after about 2 months my teeth were back to their normal state. To be honest crooked teeth dont bother me, I think it adds character to a persons smile, take Simon Cowell, has perfectly straight teeth but they look like a row of tombstones, sometimes your teeth can be TOO prefect, like Jordans, euch. Nothing wrong with getting them fixed though, mine bothered me for ages, not crooked just not as white as they could be, got it sorted and my confidence soared

Feel free to disregard my opinion since I'm Canadian and braces are like a rite of passage there, but it would take a lot for me to overlook someone with truly horrifically crooked teeth. I'm not shallow, I'll overlook weight, height, baldness, hairy shoulders etc. but really awful teeth are a deal breaker for me.

It changes the shape of your face so much. A large overbite will make you appear to have a weak chin and/or jaw. Crowded teeth will also make your jaw appear less developed. This is with your mouth closed.

Then it changes your smile from something that a person would look forward to seeing, to something that they'll look away from.

I think getting your teeth fixed would also vastly improve your confidence (regardless of whether it really needs to be improved or not, but it can't hurt) and that will also make you more attractive.

I say go for it. I know it's a lot of money but I doubt you'll regret it in the end.

Definitely do it. I always used to be incredibly conscious of my smile, I got braces when I was younger but my teeth were still dark from staining and a root canal I had done on my two front teeth so I was never happy with my smile. I was also terrified of the dentist so even going to let him look at my teeth seemed like a nightmare. Last year though I came across deep bleaching, a method of whitening teeth which aren't suitable for standard whitening. I spent 2k in total between then and now on my teeth and it was the best investment I ever made. My teeth aren't perfect now, but they're alot better than they were, and it's made such a difference to my confidence. It's the little things like not covering my mouth when I laugh and being able to smile properly for pictures without feeling self conscious, it's made such a difference to me it's unreal.

Crooked teeth wouldn't turn me off a guy, not if it's not really really bad - but at the same time if it's something that gets you down then why not change it when you have the chance.

In my own opinion, unless your teeth make you look like you're straight out of Resident Evil, I certainly wouldn't be spending 10K on them. Especially not in the "current economic climate".

OP, are you sure this isn't just something you are making worse in your head than it actually is. People always seem to notice these horribly, disgusting issues with themselves, that no one else even notices.
