    Hi,

Need some help. Is there a formula to work out the floor loading weights of a building.

I know how much weight I need to stock but don't know if the building can take it.

    Thanks,
    Jason.

Firstly an engineer to do this for you. There are any no of different conditions that have to be satisfied to ensure you answer is right. if the building was designed e.g a office build using RC there are standards they have to meet, this will differ from a library or storage ware house. You could look up the BS standards for loading to get a rough idea of how many kn/m2 a floor can take. but there are more criteria than that to design for. be careful

On construction related matters any specifying of structural components is prohibited. Any queries in this regard need to be dealt with by an architect/engineer privately.

The above is taken from the forum charter. Any formulae relating to the design of floors, or loadings for floors may not be discussed in this forum.
