Laptop with blu ray

Im thinking of getting rid of my 5 years old 40gb memory Dell inspiron, as its too full and too slow to do anything these days. I want to spend about 500 -600 euro on a new laptop, for downloading music, keeping photos, watching some films and general internet usage. would like a HD screen as im like that!!

I notice some laptops now have bluray drives, with hdmi output to tv, which means I could also use this as a bluray dvd player on my tv. My question is, is bluray any good for a laptop, or is it just something that is a novelty? Also, what laptop with the above in mind would people recommend. Are Acer any good ?

    Cheers

This one here is one i'm looking at myself (not from Amazon though cos they can probably be got cheaper elsewhere)

It has a pretty decent spec.

    Here

I know a few people with Acer laptops, i've not heard of any problems with any of them really. Only 1 person i know has a blu-ray drive on their laptop, they love it (it's a combo drive so can do dvds & cds too)

A friend of mine has that particular one and it s a fine machine, was playing with it today. Only disadvantage is it having VHP rather than 7HP, no biggie on a powerful machine like that though!

Edit: i though that one had VHP but clearly i misread, still though my friends one seems identical except with VHP

Did his one have a blu-ray drive? most online seem to have standard dvd instead!

Definitely thinking of going for that one now (if it does have blu-ray) just need to find the best price available first.

Definitely, the bluray logo was clearly on the spec sticker on it
