Bereavement counselling

    Hey guys,

My GF's brother died suddenly last May at aged 22 from AVM. There had been no symptoms or diagnosis before hand.

On her return to work, she was referred to an occupational health psychologist, or so we thought. It took some coaxing by me to get her to go, only for the psychologist to turn out to be a doctor, who hadnt bother to look at her file, asked her to "remind me why you were referred to me" and proceeded to tell her he could see no reason why she couldn't continue to work (assuming she was looking for time off I guess)

She seems to be now open to the idea of going to see someone and talk about it. Can anyone recommend a counsellor/psychologist in South Dublin?

    http://www.irish-counselling.ie/

This lists all the councellors/psychotherapists who are accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

    Hope it helps.

As you noted yourself the do a search on the psych forum, check out your local directory there should be contacts for a local beveavement service. A lot of people will not do any significant work until about six months after the bereavement, it gives you time to process some of it. I just checked out you post again, she should be well ready if it was last May. Best of luck with it.
