Hey guys, I’m new to dj’ing, love music and messing around with tracks and getting my hands on my friends decks any chance I get. I am thinking of getting a cheap, simple usb controller and soundcard to start off with and progress from there. I was looking at the following:

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/hercules_dj_control_mp3_e2.htm

    and

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/behringer_ucontrol_uca_202.htm

Your opinions on these or any other suitable gear would be greatly appreciated, or what steps I can take to further my knowledge, I have a good ear for music and would like to learn as much as possible.

I intend to use a laptop so I presume a usb controller would be the handiest.

    Thanks,

    Martin.

First off, try the main dance forum, this forum's for production, not DJing.

But to answer your question, first off, that soundcard only has one (stereo) output anyway, you'll need something like this, with 2 stereo outputs.

Read through this thread, it's all about the different USB set-ups you can have for digital DJing.

My personal preference is to use a hardware mixer, and then a complimentary MIDI controller, I use an NI Kontrol X1 (soon to be 2 Kontrol X1s).
