    Hi ,

How are your IT band injuries coming along ? Off running myself with it past two weeks, still tender etc so hpefully wont be too long before it sorted..

Off it three weeks now, one to go and hopefully will be back.
Foam roller has now been replaced with rolling pin - it refreshes the parts other rollers cannot reach.

Nearly there eh! I was just streching as physio said should be enough with icing etc but more people said roller be good too. I must buy one today

Without getting too technical (or before I get found out ;)), my physio explained that you cannot actually stretch the ITB as it is just a layer of fascia (a piece of tissue similar to cling film) so it needs to be rolled/massaged to loosen it. The muscle you are stretching with the exercises is probably the TFL.

Just wondering, has anybody ever used The Grid, a more rigid foam roller which is apparently less likely to become distorted.

Nope but I now have Swamp Thing going around my head. Thanks for that OI.

I use the trigger point grid - man it digs in - still going strong after 4mths.

I tend to use a tennis ball to get at those hard to reach places, man it hurts

Thanks for advice- using tennis ball as we speak , until I get my hands on a roller. I suppose its all the same tho. 14 days not running...and counting! :(Can still swim and run but not the same!! Well for me!

I actually bought a rolling pin today in Tesco for 2.50. Wasn't really thinking though and it's a little thin. I'm dragging my leg on the mat and the friction doesn't make for a smooth rolling action as with a foam roller. Nonetheless, it was bloody sore and worked a bit I think

Try using a peice of waven pipe....doesnt wear out at all. A friend for life. Calves,Hamstrings,Quads and your I.Ts
Probally Find some in a local skip for a free or if ya know a plumber or there is one on your road just ask they always have odd lengths lying around in their vans and sheds.
