    Hi all,

Have to get 2 new tyres fairly soon, got a quote for around 180 per tyre down here.

Is it worth going up north instead? Anywhere around Newry?

If you shop around here you might get very close without the hassle of Newry, do your price research online, Eiretyres, Camskill then try DaveMcCann.

    Don't bother going up North.

Get them delivered from Camskill. (www.camskill.co.uk)

Cheapest and best I've used. Delivered to me in Galway in less than 48 hours from UK:eek:

Thanks for the advice lads, just looked at camskill and they don't seem to have the tyres I need.

I need 255/55/18, they only have 255/50/18. Would there be much of a difference?

Also, how do I go about getting them fitted? Would most tyre places oblige?

On my old car, the best price I could get for 2 Y rated 215/45/18's was over 400 euro without VAT or fitting, I went up to newry and got 4 tyres fitted for 320....

This was last year mind, but I wouldnt think prices have changed that much on either side of the border to make it unecconomical to travel. Having said that, the tyres I was after were specialist and uncommon, so maybe the regular market is more compeditive?

Try MJ Tires just outside Ashbourne on the N2 (at the junction for the turnoff to Ratoath where the put the new traffic lights in last year). I got Vredestein 215/55/R16s for my Passat for €85 a corner fitted & balanced about 5 months ago.

Nice guys to deal with too...

Can I ask what you're driving with those widths?

When I bought 4 Falkens from Camskill, I got them fitted for €50 by my tyre guy, no problems at all. Although some wouldn't do it and were trying to charge me €1,000 to supply and fit 4 Falkens. (yep that's not a typo - €1,000)

So all in all, 4 Falkens FK452's (2x 245/45/18 & 2x 225/45/18) delivered, and fitted for €440. Less than half price.

Is it a Focus RS by any chance?? Had one myself and had trouble finding decent tyres for it cheaply.

Camskill only go to that size in 4 x 4 tyres.
Its an unusual size for a car.

Its for a BMW 3 series coupé.

I'll double check later on - only had a quick look this morning and thought it said 255/55/18

Id say rears are 255/35/18 with the front being narrower. Cant see them being 55 at all

They have that size on Eiretyres.

I did a search and got 114 results ranging from 110 to over 300 euro, take your pick.

    Jamie,

I bought a set of MV2 alloys like yours yesterday..

    The rear fitment is 255/35/r18

Need to get new rears myself and the options I've picked are:

    Goodyear Eagle F1

    Falken 452/912

    Vredestien Ultrac

There are eagle F1s on it but they are very expensive for me so I'm leaning towards the 912s as I had them before and found them good.

I always buy my tyres on camskill, cant be beaten on price.

Cheers Paul - what kind of prices are they coming in at?

I put the pics up but their not exactly professional :)

Round £100 each plus delivery for the Falkens and Vredsteins and about £140 plus delivery for the Goodyear.

I saw the pics, shes a beaut, I'd say your busy keeping it clean with this weather :)

Nice one - are the Falkens and Vredsteins really cheappy cheap or are the resonably ok?

Ah stop man - disaster! Had to wash it twice the first week! The enthuasim is starting to slip now so we're down to one a week now.

All I need now is this feckin MAF sorted and I'll be flyin :D

Vredesteins are excellent in any company & for the price wont be beaten IMO.

Just wondering if anyone would suggest the Falkens over the Vredesteins or vice versa for a 3 series in this size (255/35/R18)?

I read a bit on both and will be buying one or the other I think, am undecided which though.

I read the Falken 912s are harder wearing and are all season, but would appreciate feedback from anyone who has had any of above in this size on a rwd.
