iPod frozen

I have an iPod touch.it has frozen and wont even let me turn it off by touching the screen.I've held down the two buttons and it switched off but when I restarted the iPod it was still frozen anyone have the same problems and knows how to fix it?

Think this happened me before. Had a white screen and couldn't force it to reboot but connected it to the laptop to sync with iTunes and that seemed to force it to reboot.

If that doesn't work, you can try reflashing it from under iTunes.
