Working Life as a solicitor?

I wanted to ask about what working conditions are like as a solicitor. I have secured an internship at a mid-sized firm, which does a mix of commercial and private client work, and have been told I have very good chances of being offered a training contract for when I graduate.

So, I was wondering what kind of working life I could expect if I go down this road - Hours, stress levels etc. I want a challenging career and really enjoy law in college, but at the same time I do want a family in ten years or so, and don't want to feel that I wouldn't be able to juggle career and family/social life. I'm also considering pursuing academia, or going into business. (I'm studying business and law)

    Thanks
