Change product code using NSS ! go to main 5800 thread easy to do too!

    They're all equally bad IMHO.

Methinks they'd much rather have the few interested geeks find ways around it than to have to retest handsets with new firmwares.

An exception would maybe be the 5800 that needs v30 or later for the free maps. That may get some attention.

I agree, I am afraid to put the new firmware on because it will invalidate my warranty and right now I can barely text :(

ive been on thread before and its a mess.

    what is nss

    does changing code affect warranty

is it possible to unlock the 5800 also

can somebody clear up which version is needed for free maps

my firmware is v30.0.011 but there is also custom v30 version which was updated on 14/10/09 called v30.0.011.285.02

i presume thats vodafones branding. is that correct

Use the search function, that would help you

Its a program called Nemesis Service Suite. It can directly communicate with phones via USB cable, for use with software updating etc

Technically it does void warranty yes, but dont think anyone has been refused warranty on this basis.

You need to have special equipment. You can go to an unlocking shop, and they will unlock it for you for €20

Its v30.0.008 or higher, so your current software is ok

My sig has info on changing product code to update to latest firmware.

It does make your warranty not valid if you put any other update on it :(
