Bowe is the only Irish player who'd get near a team of the 6N imo, which is so depressing I don't want to pick a team now.

Not bad. I'd only change Beattie for Hari. Maybe Ferris for Wallace.

We dont always agree but I agree 100% with that statement.

Ireland were shocking this year, no creativity, poor defence and no leadership. I've never been so disappointed with a performance like we've had this 6Ns.

Why are people including Basteraud in their team of the tournament? He did very little really.

Murray had one good game against Ireland and little else.

Well when you look at the alternatives, it's hard to find one.

I mean BOD didn't have a stellar 6 Nations. I was tempted to put Hook in. Tait didn't do too much. I felt he was the best out of the tournament.

He dismantled the best lineout in the tournament, for that alone he deserves to be in that team. Its a damn shame he wasn't able to continue his form.

The best lineout in the tournament was Scotland's. I'm fairly sure O'Connell did the same job in the lineout for the opening two games. Nallet, Kellock, Bradley Davies, Pierre and even Shaw and Borthwick were streets ahead of Cullen over the course of the tournament.

Nope Cullen stole all the lineouts we stole against France. I didn't see a performance from any second row that came close to Cullen's opening two games hence why I included him. If he had been able to continue who knows.

Im pretty sure youve got your stats wrong there and Cullen did not steal ALL the lineouts we stole.

Beattie deserves a honouray mention, but he was just about eclipsed by the great Harinordoquy in this tournament.

Just thinking about the French front row. The have an awesome strength in depth there now. Domingo, Barcella, Servat, Szarzewski, Mas and Poux. They've 2 men in each position the equal of any player in the world at the minute or not far off it at least. Lievremont has an easy job.

Anyone see L'équipe's team of the tournament? Harinordoquy didn't make it, oddly enough.
Four Scots, three Irishmen, one Welsh player and seven Frenchmen.

Poitrenaud (FRA) - Bowe (IRL), O’Driscoll (IRL), Hook (WAL), S. Lamont (SCO) - Parks (SCO), Parra (FRA) - Wallace (IRL), Beattie (SCO), Dusautoir (FRA) - Kellock (SCO), (FRA) - Mas (FRA), Servat (FRA), Domingo (FRA).

In fairness, we came second in the tournament. Scotland were rubbish in all but one game. I don't see how the team that came second could possibly be represented by only one player.

Eh, first 60 minutes against Wales?

    Nightmare XV:

    1. Paul James
    2. Gareth Williams
    3. John Hayes :(
    4. Jonathan Thomas
    5. Louis Deacon
    6. James Haskell
    7. Joe Worsley (Good BF, crap openside)
    8. Andy Powell

    9. Tito Tebaldi
    10. Phil Godman
    11. Ugo Monye
    12. Riki Flutey
    13. Mathew Tait
    14. Kaine Robertson (tough one, not many poor wingers in the tournament)
    15. Delon Armitage

That is a very good team. The French are properly independent and have a truly unique view. Our view is clouded by Brits and West Brits - i.e if England aren't the best after France, then automatically, all the best XV have to be nearly all French. You could put Ben Foden in there but otherwise I think the French were right.

I still think we're better than the Scots though. There's more depth in our squad. The IRB are also respectful it seems. If there's one team that deserved to go up in the rankings it's Scotland. England are also getting better though. More than half our total points came from tries.
We're the only team that has ? 50% of points made up by try scoring. That's not just good attacking, that's an experimental out-half in Sexton. He'll only get better I think.
He was brilliant in open play, contributing directly to several tries, interestingly.

Friends and colleagues here were talking up Scotland all through the tournament, saying their style of play was the most attractive in the tournament and that the should go far in the World Cup. I couldn't see it myself, but I suppose I didn't pay that much attention to them.

Nice Rugby has a similar Scottish lean, and also exludes Harinoroquy, but the inclusion of O'Connell, with Hayes on the bench makes it hard to believe they actually watched the 6 nations.

Poitrenaud (FRA) – Bowe (IRL), O’Driscoll (IRL), Morrisson (ECO), Cueto (ANG) – Parks (ECO), Parra (FRA) – Bonnaire (FRA), Beattie (ECO), Dusautoir (FRA) – O’Connell (IRL), Nallet (FRA) – Mas (FRA), Servat (FRA), Domingo (FRA). Remplaçants : Swarzewski (FRA), Hayes (IRL), Kellock (ECO), Harinodoquy (FRA), O’Leary (IRL), Hook (GAL), Foden (ANG).

Well O'Connell only really had a stinker against Scotland and he was targeted very effectively by the Scots. Swarzewski is a bit over-rated by them. Otherwise, that's also a very good team.

POC had 1 good game against Wales, he had 9 knock-ons in his calamitous performances against France, England and Scotland. He's in bad need of a good break from rugby!

maybe he's in need of a holiday but that's all. There's always a lot of pressure put on players like O'Connell. They're in the mix so much that sometimes their hands are falling off, and they knock it on. Granted, it was all too often but it happens. It's Rugby Union.
