Here are a few going back through the years that stand out.

    2000:

Getting hammered by England in the 6 Nations.

    2001:

Loosing to Scotland 32-10 at Murrayfield. A GS Ireland left after them.

    2002:

France destroying us in Paris 44 - 5.

    2003:

Getting hammered in the 6Nations GS decider against England.

    2007:
Loosing to France at Croke Park. Vincent Clerk last minute try to seal victory for France. Nightmare.

    2010:

Loosing to Scotland at Croke Park.

That one would stand out. First loss that I remember watching, and that I cared about. I was devastated, to say the least.

Today was pretty bleak, but not a patch on that.

In terms of Six Nations defeats the first game at Croke Park against France is the obvious one.

The 1992 Five Nations campaign was a terrible letdown after the promise that had been shown in the 1991 World Cup and the previous year's championship. Ralph Keyes suffered a serious fall from grace that year and Brendan Mullin retired from International rugby, although he did come back for the 1995 season.

The 18-16 defeat at the Stade de France in 1998 was also a big disappointment, I think it was Warren Gatland's first game in charge. Ireland led for most of the match but were caught late on. That was a superb French team and it would have been one of the all-time great shocks as Ireland were at a particularly low ebb beforehand.

But the daddy of them all has to be the 2007 World Cup. A team and squad that should have been at it's absolute peak was spectacularly mis-prepared by Eddie O'Sullivan and his coaching team.

Who can forget the whole 2007 Rugby World Cup?

The games we won were more disappointing than the ones we lost. :(

2007 WC without doubt, embarassed on the world stage.
anytime we have ever played NZ also.

    2007 WC was appalling.

That game against Georgia was abysmal (we deserved to lose that game)

The Argie game in the 07 WC.

England 03. In fairness they dismantled us that day.

My 1st experience as a kid of the agony and ecstasy of sport and rugby personally in particular:

Australia in the RWC 87 in Dublin. Hamiltons near end game try cancelled at the death by Lynagh.

It was a new and strange feeling to experience such emotions....such a feeling we are now so used and addicted to I guess ! :)
