Favourite Colour?

So what your favourite colour on a car?

I think some cars are a bit more colour sensitive than others, like nearly every new shape Passat I see on the road is black and I think it really suits the car. I think the older beemers in that dark metallic green (don't know correct name of colour) look great too.

Anyway, black is my favourite colour with silver probably being my second choice. I hate white and red (unless it's a Ferrari), and all those wacky colours like yellow, purple etc..

I agree ollie i love black. I had a black passat 07 until today until a polish dude decided to come around a bend on the mallow killarney road and hit her head on... No one hurt in my car thank god except the car....

As long as it's not silver or hearing aid beige, then I think I could go for any colour really.

It's usually last on my list to be honest.

Condor grey would be my favourite. Especially nice on the tt.

I added a poll. Black ftw, but silver could very well take the honours I think. :)

I think that colour is gorgeous.

Did anyone see the recent episode of Wheeler Dealers where that tosser Mike Brewer had a look at an E36 M3 in that colour and walked away because of it? He then went and bought a black one which was an absolute shed.

I think you're right Lex, and it was a nice colour too. Speaking of green, I used to have a dark green Jeep Cherokee like this and I loved it..

Depends alot on the actual car eg VW scirocco looks very well in that bright (kawasaki like) green!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭TheColl

Depends on the car really... I voted red as i'm driving an alfa 147 at the mo and i think red really suits it, but a lot of cars don't look great in red! In general, black is prob the colour that looks best on most cars. As others have said, anything but silver, have a bit of imagination people! Every time I see a silver Corolla a little part of me dies.

Can't say I agree with the first part, but I understand you must be fairly pissed with him. His driving has nothing to do with his nationality though.

    Bold: Glad to hear it!

Just saw it now, thanks for the prompt :)

They made a £370 profit. I guess they are paying Ed about £0.99 per hour for his troubles :D

***don't take the program too seriously. They are trying to make entertainment. Buying the purple one (probably in perfect condition) and selling it on for a tiny profit without having to do work on it, kinda isn't in the remit of the show :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

I said other because it really depends on the car.
British Racing Green with cream Leather on an mark1/2 MX5, Techno Violet on an 8Series, Yellow with black wheels on an S2000, Gun Metal Grey on a DBS, ect...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,382 ✭✭✭jimmyw

I think if black does not make a car look better, than the car is a load of s***e:rolleyes:;):D. Not a fan of silver either, even if it is popular/common.

I missed this. I'm sorry for what happened and all but that is just a downright ignorant post.

Now you can have a 2 week break for that because this isn't the first time I've had to speak to you about your attitude towards Eastern Europeans

I voted sliver, bit biased since I drive one. British racing green does it for me too :D.

    Depends on the car.

If its a Lamborghini, its Orange or Kermit Green.
But for most other cars it'ld either be a shade of Blue or Black.

    Eg:

Silver I think is the best. I never notice much dirt/marks on the car when the sun is out. However I like dark blue also, especially after shining and getting cleaned, shows up a lot of the dirt tought!

I like silver for the same reason. The car can be filthy and it doesn't show as much as the darker colours do. I had a very dark blue fiesta years ago and it was a nightmare to keep clean. By the time I drove home from the car-wash, it was already showing me some brand new dirt it picked up on the way home .

Hate white myself, but I do think that the Subaru Legacy B4 (99-03) is gorgous in white :).

It all depends on the car. It doesn't even have to be an exotic car to look good in an unusual colour. e.g. the 206 and old Clio look good in that burnt orange colour, and I think the Fiesta looks cool in the neon green type colour.

Also, the upholstery can make a massive difference. Black paint and black leather is a bit boring. But put in some nice tan leather, and it's a lovely contrast. Same with white paint and maroon leather.

A metallic Gunmetal Grey or Charcoal Grey. Its dark enough but it wont show all the dirt like a black car.

    Something around this colour,

That Portofino blue colour actually looks more like lilac when seen in person.

    Very true.
Already 3 black cars in my house.
And then I bought myself another black car. That makes it 4 now!!
The neighbors might be thinking we're obsessed with black!!

It depends on the car and the climate. Bright yellow Seats look nice when you see them in the Canaries; stormtrooper helmet white audis look great on a crisp bright day in helsinki; and drab grey/moleskin brown suit the drab Irish climate. I love the dark navy on some modern BMWs and Saabs, but overall I think a nice Jag in racing green is top.
