2003 Golf diesel.........

    Anyone any ideas what to look out for with one of these? Young fellas seen a 3 door one on donedeal and wants to buy it, 100bhp red eye? Seems a nice car but I suppose they all have they're faults..........

    Forget about red eye and red d etc etc, a trip to Halfords will give you all the red lettering you want. Check the log book for KW to see what actual power it has.

    I think the turbo, clutch and gearboxes are the weaknesses on these cars.

    There's just over 100,000 miles on it which I think is a bit high but it is 2003 I suppose.

    Depends how it's been looked after over those miles, make sure there's a service history and see that the timing belt has been changed recently or it's a pricey job down the road.

    100K miles isn't high for a 2003 diesel, just about average really :)
