    Incl. .....wait for it.......FRINGE!

Move over Buffy, Walter will be doing a musical number with that cow!
It's all part of a week long Glee/musical themed week, can you imagine House breaking into song?, or them folks on Bones?

How about Jack from 24....what would he sing?

If an episode of 24 turns into a musical then I will never watch it again.

    Yes they were.

I could elaborate on this point as well but really if you don't think they were funny there's no point in doing so. They were brilliant.

It's back on April 1st, anyone think this might be an April fool's joke?

The Buffy musical episode was fantastic.. but not much else impressed me in that regard!

Think it's a terrible idea myself!

They wernt my favourite but forever seem to appear very highly when lists are compiled of the best xfile episodes and the best TV show episodes of the 90's etc.

A musical episode though please no. Fringe already has enough humour with Walter each week. Wouldnt mind a cross over week on Fox ie Fringe-House or House-Lie to me!!

There's a difference though.. these shows in the past CHOSE to make a musical episode.

Fox are pushing this on their shows as some sort of a silly promotion / tie-in with Glee.

XFiles never had a musical episode

And If you didnt laugh as Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose than....I fear for you!

Yep, I can't remember a musical episode either... and I recently rewatched it in it's entirety!

No one said the X files had a musical episode but rather compared the proposed offbeat Fringe one with the x files episodes like Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose/Jose Chungs from outer space which were very offbeat.

*Shudder* Fringe? Really? I can't see it working. It made sense when 'Buffy' did it. It made even more sense I feel when 'Xena' did it years before 'Buffy' (too often Buffy's credited with the musical genre episode!). This though? Hmm...

There was an awful Simpsons musical episode that springs to mind.

    Gack!

Scrubs made an awful balls of one too.

Not wanting to get into fanboy mode but the buffy one really was very good in that it dealt with some fairly important plot points in song.

All in all I remember Reading that desperate housewives were going to do one and I thought it basically smells of desperation.

I really enjoyed the 'Scrubs' one actually!

Buffy certainly did NOT coin the tv musical episode...others had done it before, but Wheadon did create all original songs for the ep. - it's easily the best of it's kind.

The Drew Carey show did musical stuff as well:

I actually prefered the Xena episode "Bitter Suite". It also had original songs and tied into the episode and I think the songs were better, the accompanying visuals, and the singing that bit stronger (Lucy Lawless anyway has a very powerful voice).

That 70's Show did it as well!....the 100th episode

I didn't, guy love really made me laugh but that's about it and I'm a fairly die hard scrubs fan.

I never really got into Xena but I might give that a look.

It's worth a look - varies in tone from wild camp to seriously bleak (further along these ends than "Buffy" did, another versatile show). Xena also pre-dated Buffy as the kick-ass female lead although Buffy is ultimately the better show due to being more creative and witty.

Well impressed to see the Drew Carey episode get a nod in this thread.

    Fond memories. :D

Anyway, yes, this idea made sense for Buffy and Drew Carey and Xena and whatever, but yikes, Fringe is far, far too po-faced altogether for this noition. The only way I can imagine it is if one of the characters has a coma fantasy or something.

I absolutely hate musicals and if I am required to watch a musical for Fringe in order to gather plot points then I will either use Wikipedia after it airs or abandon it completely, either way I will not watch it.

^ speaking of which...how HOT did Christa Miller look in her Drew Carey days compared to her botox current look :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,090 ✭✭✭jill_valentine

She was even grand in the early Scrubs series too though, to be fair. But yes.

I'll watch it with a heavy heart because its my favourite show at the moment. But I'll have no qualms in stopping it should it get ridiculous.

    And musicals suck. They do.

I have to say, I wouldn't have immediately thought there was a big Glee/Fringe crossover audience for Fox to tap into.
