    Hi guys,
I'll be in L.A for about 2/3 days in july/august time. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of what to do while I'm there, I'd really appreciate it! I'd like to do a studio tour and do a it of shopping!

I also need recommendations of a good, central hotel / hostel that isn't too expensive!

    hey,
i'd agree with lots of these, you could also visit the Getti center, look it up... the architecture and gardens are amazing..also visit the Observatory (excellent astronomy exhibit, Not just for geeks, its cool up there, views are amazing over LA, the city is ENORMOUS!!!) its not far from Hollywood/ Bev Hills, Rodeo Drive. Also you can walk from the Observatory to the Hollywood sign.
There is also an LA gangs tour, wasn't started when i was there but could be really great to do.
Mackey did you really drive around Compton? was it safe? i wanted to but my brother drives a bmw and was afraid of getting car jacked, he lives there and has been warned many times to avoid certain areas so i missed out on that aspect of LA unfortunately.
Also look up Skid Row and be aware of the extreme wealth and extreme poverty which co-exist in LA, its a strange place, but interesting and enjoyable.
Nightlife in Hollywood is supposed to be good, visit Hermosa & Manhattan beach, drive around Palos Verdes its lovely!

I really want to do a tour of movie studios. Which is better - Paramount Studios or WB?
Also I will probably head down Rodeo Drive just to say I've been there, but it may be a little out of my price range. If anyone knows of any good shopping centres (with Old Navy, Gap, Hollister etc), I'd appreciate it!
