I reckon Chambers could take it. He is a lot more mobile than the last 5 yanks who got beaten over there.

    I hope so anyway.

Chambers looks like a blown up Light Heavy. His chances are slim and none.

That was the first thing I thought. He weighed 209 but he looks fat! I reckon he could easily lose another 10 pounds and dominate cruiserweight.

Regarding this fight, it'll probably be like Klitschko - Ibragimov. Eddie will know he can't win but Wlad will be defensive cos he knows Chambers has speed. Boring UD12 I reckon.

LAds, don't know a lot about boxing. I stayed up to watch the Pacquiao fight and was really disappointed.

Is it worth the €11 to buy the fight? is it likely to be open with both trying to win?

Not really. Save your money for Mayweather - Mosely
Cottos next fight the first weekend in June is worthy of a few quid though as the main event will be good and has a decent undercard.

One sided, standard Wlad fight. 3 rounds left

edit: chambers had to chaqnge his glove before the start of the 10th... refs orders.

Wlad has landed a few nice heavy rights throughout, other than that no knockdowns or anything.

I bet Haye is going to get under Wlad's skin with the comments he'll make about this fight:D

10 fights ago now, Sam Peter. Since then he's just won fights on his jab without getting hurt and throwing the occasional right.

    Even Emmanual hates Wlad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 367 ✭✭I Drink It Up!

You lads are full of it. Really.

These guys...Chambers, Johnson, Ibragimov all figure that if they sit back and wait they will catch the brothers with something big when they "inevitably tire".:rolleyes:

What's making for a "poor" fight is that it takes two to tango.

Wlad tries to make the fight....the other dude covers up, spoils, runs, cheats {that glove should have got them DQ'd...Chambers was badly hurt at the end of the 9th and needed a breather} and basically does as little as possible, biding his time and waiting for the chance to drop in a sneaky counter against a tired opponent.

Of course, Wlad, seeing that this bitch had decided to not even use the 12th as a last-chance-saloon, showed enough variety to stop the guy with one punch.

That was a legitimate one punch KO. As in you are asleep and not getting up.

David Haye is YEARS removed from having done that to anyone....in fact I dont know if he has ever truly put a guy to sleep like that.

But we get more of the same ****..."oh...boring...even the KO was crap...blah blah blah".

    Whatever.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yes, Emmanuel hates guys who never give him trouble in camp, and who never train, and who never stop a guy with one punch after a dominant 12 rounds of boxing.

He wishes all his fighters were like Jermaine Taylor and Michael Moorer. He dreams of those 12 round title fights against people like Corey Spinks and Winky Wright.

He wishes he was back in the good old days when Naz was being beaten up by MAB....

....unfortunately, he has to make-do with people who wont follow his orders and who lose all their fights.:rolleyes:

It was tongue in cheek lad. Steward was onto Wlad from about the 5th to finish off Eddie as he knew he didn't have the power to hurt Wlad and he couldn't handle Wlads power but what does Wlad do? Yes he sticks to his boring style where he throws a jab and backs up and then throws another jab.
I have no doubt Wlad is technically very good but it was pretty obvious just like his last few fights that if he puts on more pressure he can take guys out quicker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

it was a good ko no doubt. Wlad is usually afraid to take risks because his chin isn't all that good so he plays it safe behind his jab and throws the occasional right.
This is why people don't warm to him as a boxer. As you say we heard Stewart pleading with him to use his size and power and step it up throughout the fight.

He threw a lot of straight rights which were not having the desired effect for the following reasons:

    1. Chambers has a good chin.
    2. Chambers never stopped moving
    3. Chambers partially blocked some of them.
    4. Chambers people bought him 90 seconds extra time when he was hurt at the end of the 9th.

It was not the case that he just threw jabs. This is where I must disagree...there were plenty of rights in there too.

Wlad probably could have taken the guy out quicker, but then again, so can Floyd Mayweather, so could have Lennox Lewis, so could have Larry Holmes etc.

Considering that Chambers was using his smaller stature and good movement and total spoiling tactics to just get through the fight, I dont blame Wlad for being patient, doing the job, and still having enough concentration to end it with one shot.

Wlad, ironically, only started to fight like this under the tutelage of Steward. This is true.

If Wlad had always fought under Steward, he never would have lost to Sanders and he never would have beaten the **** out of Ray Mercer.

Against Sam Peter, Steward sent Wlad out with strict instructions to "bip bip bip...win the round"......it was Wlad who disobeyed him and went for the KO.

Then against Ibragimov....Steward starts in with this crap about how "if we don't get this guy out of here, it's going to look really bad"

I mean, make your mind up, Manny!

No way does Floyd have Wlads power to just take out a guy, Wlad is 6'9 and is built like a brickhouse yet all he thinks about is not getting hit and its terrible to watch and its also bad for boxing as it's losing alot of t.v coverage because of this ****e.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭joepenguin

From a sporting / career point of view Wlad is the best out there. He wins, he makes money, how much im not sure but he isnt going toe to toe / losing to lesser athletes to make a couple of hundred thousand lads on a pre lash happy.
I suppose thats a whole other topic of debate.

That one punch KO sent a serious message to David Haye!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 369 ✭✭Kaizer Sosa

Isn't it about time the Klitschko's started getting some kudos as genuine heavyweights that would be a threat in any era? I mean you couldn't discount guys with their power against anyone. Lennox Lewis is now pretty highly regarded but Vitali took him to the deep end in their fight and if anything the boys have improved immensely since then.

For all the bitchin' thats done about this heavyweight era, I can't help but think the Klitschko boys are being done a disservice. We haven't seen them break a sweat in the last 2/3 years and they have managed to dismantle all the fashionable pretenders. TBH, I can't see David Haye changing that either. A lot of commentators rightly criticize their style but its hard to criticize the boxing skills of guys who have beasted over their division like they have.

Floyd could have taken out Ricky Hatton anytime after the 5th, maybe 6th round.

He didn't, and despite the fact that he had Ricky's number {enjoying significant height, reach and weight advantages over Ricky} he seemed content to wait for the perfect opportunity or the final bell, whichever came first.

Floyd may not be a 1 punch hitter-quitter, but he is not far removed from it, but prefers to toodle along so long as he is picking up points and staying out of harms way.

He could have taken JMM out {another fighter over whom he enjoyed really significant size and weight advantages} yet he just pot-shotted all night, despite the fact that Nacho Beristain was, by the 10th round, asking JMM if he could go the full 12.

well some people obviously enjoy watching Wlad

    Klitschko-Chambers breaks german television record!

12.59 million viewers watched last night's fight. That's 52.8% of all germans watching tv at that time and a new record for the Cologne-based broadcaster.

It was also the most viewed broadcast so far in 2010 for all broadcasters and mind you that they just had the olympics.

Add in all the ukranian and russian TV viewership figures it must be a ridiculous figure, lets just say in 15 yrs time we will have a heavyweight devision full of ivan dragos'.

The Klitschos get way too much abuse imo. They are fantastic role models and technically excellent boxers. Yeh the days of raw brute tyson force are gone but I always admire how they break down these american chumps. And Eddie Chambers was a decent heavyweight by todays standards no matter what people think.

I like Wladamir Klitchko - When he turned it on, on saturday night he was great, he had some good hand speed, an amazing left jab, a right that could decapitate and he never gets hit.

manny steward seems to be pushing him to dominate more and that fight could have and should have been over in the 2nd.

If Haye and Klitchko goes ahead and manny steward can remove the element of doubt Klitchko has in his own punch resistance, then Haye is getting knocked out, no doubt about it in my mind

Hey David Hasselhoffs music is huge in Germany!

Look i think both Klitchkos are easily the best around and i do agree they're undervalued especially by the Yanks but there's no doubting Wlads fights are horrible to watch and i get frustrating watching him as you can see he has all the power, the jab and that huge right hand to be even a little bit more offensive. There was no way Eddie had the power to trouble Wlad and even Manny new this so he wanted him out of there sooner but as soon as Eddie threw a few back at him he went back into that defensive shell everytime. It's a pity he does this but i guess that's his style and thats why he's World champion but i certaintly don't love the sport because of watching guys like him fight.
