Laptop losing charge/Power cable getting hot

    Hi
I have an Acer laptop that won't keep charged while plugged into mains - battery goes from 100% to <10% in a few minutes randomly - even when the laptop is plugged into mains - the end of the power cable appears to be a bit burnt - I switched to a different power cable and the same thing continues to happen within aweek and end of new power cable is not burnt - it appears to be difficult to get the power cable to make contact with the power inlet on the laptop....
I presume this is not an easy fault to fix - have swapped both battery & power cable from another laptop same as this one but to no avail....

    Any advice appreciated:)
    THanks in advance
