    Hi,
I have been doing some painting so I had unplugged my SilverCrest receiver and left it aside out of the way. When I plugged it back in nothing happened. No LCD display, no picture, nothing. I used a phase tester to test the power supply going from the supply board to the main board and they all lit up so power is getting in.

Could the receiver have snuffed it from plugging it out?

It is attached to a quad LNB. My main sky box is working as normal off the same LNB. Could one of the LNB outputs have been damaged or something or should I just give up?

The receiver has been in storage for ages and really has only been used for the past 2 months.

Chip is ALI M3329C E1 and I have attached an image of the board below.

    Very weird.

I have disconnected my Silvercrest many times with absolutely no problems.

When thing don't seem to work when you disconnent them temporarily and then reconnect them its more likely to be incorrect set up rather than a fault i would think.

The obvious thing is the 1/0 rocker switch on the back (is in the on position?), but if you been using a phase tester you must be well down the check list of possibiliities already.

The fact that you are getting no LCD sounds bad, but it seems like too much of a coincidence to me that it just happened when it was disconnected.

Any chance that there was a spillage on it when disconnected ?

If you bought it from Lidl it'll have a decent warranty anyway, some of the stuff has 36months, email them from www.lidl.ie and they'll put you in touch with the manufacturer.

There's no on/off switch on my model, just the standby power switch on the front.

The thing is spotless and nothing fell on it at all. I was always careful about turning off the power before disconnecting the sat cable etc so just majorly annoyed by this. The receipt is long gone and can't remember when I got it exactly. Reckon I might be in with a chance still?

Just do what I said, receipt is not necessary.

I emailed lidl. They told me to ring Zintek for assistance.
Zintek told me to post them the reciever with proof of purchase and they would sort it.
I have no receipt so Zintek said to go to where I bought it and ask them for a cover letter saying that I bought it there.

So now I have to go to lidl and see if they will give me that.
    That's the latest.

Sure it's better than nothing. Last time I had a faulty Lidl item I didn't need the receipt they just took the serial number and gave me an address to post it to, 10 days later I received it back repaired, did cost me 14 Euro to post (it was a heavy HDD/DVD recorder) but I was happy with that as it was over 2 years old anyway.

    Hi,

I came across the exact same symptoms just the other day with one of these Comag / Lidl receivers. Note the receiver itself (SL65/12) has only a 12V DC power input, with a separate powersupply for mains use (see my pictures of it below). In this case the plugin powersupply had failed. Off load it seemed OK - it did have a 12V output, but could not handle the load when connected.
The receiver works fine again with another 12V supply.
Being curious I opened up the bad powersupply (see last picture) and see the 3 green electrolytic capacitors at the top - at least the larger of the three - a 470uF/16V one is definately gone low in value. the other two are 100uF/16V and would be suspect too.

This advice probably no use to the original poster at this stage - but others might still use one of these receivers and find this thread - try replacing the 12V powersupply if they give trouble. In this case it had failed after 2 years daily use with reasonable ventilation.
