As Back to Basics celebrates 18 years of numerous events and parties, its only fitting that we see a seminal return of its legendary record label.

Back to Basics influence on house music has been monumental and its significance is still felt today. Arguably it was one of house music's most innovative and most notorious record labels of the nineties, having released recordings and mixes from Josh Wink, Derrick Carter, Ralph Lawson, Andrew Wetherall and Herbert plus many more all of which characterised a whole generation of house music.

Back to Basics is to declare its relaunch with the first release from the club’s residents Buckley & Jon Woodall with remixes from the zestful Jamie Jones and house legend Chris Duckenfield under his Acid guise the "Half Inch Jack".

Founder of the club and label boss, Dave Beer explains the return: “We are really excited about relaunching the label after a 13 year absence. We stopped the label as we were disillusioned with the way the corporate record industry was starting to infiltrate and saturate the independent dance labels which created what now is known as the chemical generation and exciting time which defined dance music. The fat cigar smoking record industry were cashing in and making a mockery of something that was really special and we wanted no part to play in destroying what we were a part of creating. We never stopped making music we just had to find a different pseudonym and other avenues to release under keeping it real and underground. Celebrating our 18 year anniversary and now the longest running weekly club night on the planet we now believe its time for us to start releasing tracks as things have changed again out there again and independants can once more release tracks without being part of a commercial rat race. Although we will remain true to the cause and continue to release on vinyl we feel the digital age has made things exciting again and allows us to release again in our punk rock fashion .House music has evolved and keeps evolving in our opinion better than it ever was so once again we’ll look forward to receiving some of the most cutting edge, up front tunes of the new school of Back to Basics. Hold onto your seats, the louder we scream the faster we go”.

To celebrate the release of the first E.P we are throwing a launch party on Saturday 27th of March with Buckley and Jon Woodall being joined by Chris Duckenfield!!
