Ford Fiesta 2010 Price Increase!

I'm buying a brand new automatic Fiesta and seemingly had agreed a good deal with a Ford dealer in Dublin - ~€16k with a trade-in (auto 206). This was the style model with ICE pack and not a lot else. Apparently there are very few automatics in the country at the moment so, after a bit of ringing around, he found none and will have to order one in. But shock horror the prices are set to increase at the end of April by 7-10%!!!

Has anyone heard anything about this price increase or do you reckon he's tryin to pull one? Ridiculous time to increase prices if you ask me.

when do you plan to order?
whats stopping you ordering now and beating the April increase?

The price charged is the price on the date of delivery, not the date of order.

There's a snag there - the prices are only valid when the cars arrive in the door apparently. He doesn't pay when he orders. The cars take up to twelve weeks so I'd be looking at paying whatever the price is in June when they arrive. I just have the whole Ford price-fixing thing from a few years ago in my head all the time...

I've tried a few dealers and this was the best - this one was 1k cheaper than the others because he was giving a better deal on the trade-in.

EDIT: Anan beat me to it!

Are there any other auto Fiestas either in the country or arriving shortly that might be acceptable to you?

I'm looking for a black one (or similar dark colour) but there's only 7 automatics in the country. There were two blacks up til this week but they've been sold and the others are different colours - he's actually trying to flog me a silver one but not interested.

I certainly haven't heard of any price increases. Has the industry really picked up enough for them to be able to increase their prices!? I thought the growth was only really superficial because of the scrappage deal.

If it's any help to you, black is a complete PITA to own. It looks well when perfectly clean & unmarked, but it shows dents, scratches and dirt like no other colour.
