This would have cost boylesports about €30 quid. Must be some strange glitch because if it says confirmed it is confirmed. No way they are trying anything on, its a tiny bet.

If they happen to keep any eye on peoples feedback here too then they'll probably not pay you!

Your right they are a shower of c###s. Have to laugh at Leon blanch coming on tv saying they held so much money on certain horses and yet they wouldn't lay me 75 ew on a 6/1 shot

That is the case, they don't play with "big" players. But they arn't in the business of conning people out of €30 quid either.

50/1??? He was 100/1 all day in the bookies I was in!!
Can't believe they wouldn't take 75 ew on 6/1 shot!
That to me is ridiculous, one of th 'bigger bookies' and they wouldn't take a bet that would return less about 860!!
    I am in shock!! :eek::eek:

Leave Blanchy out of this,he's a top bloke
My bro used to work for them in Dundalk, from some of the bets he told me about i can only think the person in that shop was acting the p*ick,
I have seen big bets over a grand by a mate of mine being put on in their shop in Kilkenny,in saying that they don't take bets off him anymore like the rest including pp.
He moved to Portugal last year with his lap top,he's doing very well, btw he doesn't back horses unless we're on a day out at a track

I'd say they would have taken it on an other horse int the race by the sounds of things their liabilities were at a maximum.

Can't understand why when people are knocked back or totally refused they don't just go straight to the exchanges?

Liquidity, each ways, premium charges, market types. Lots of possible reasons really.

The exchanges are brilliant for punters but they are far from a perfect product. There are limitations there.

For such a massive firm they have to be the windiest shower of f**ks ever.... :p

Its not the matter its the principal of it over the years i've spent plenty of money with them and there fcuking around with a small bet

I collected 2.5k off them about two or three months ago so they must still have a bitter taste

Only backed the horse couple of minutes before off it dropped to 50/1

Yeah, I can imagine the board meeting where they decided to rip you off thirty quid at a time to claw back their money

No I can imagine their website being unavailable to take my bet correctly it making an error and them no fessing up to it.

No needs to be a smart ar$e about it. As I have stated in a previous post not the amount. What would of happened if it had been a larger bet and they buried their head in the sand?

For a large firm there's no doubt they're a bunch of cowards. A few months ago i rang up to place €100 e/w on a horse running at Dundalk, he was 16/1 early price. The teller i spoke to put me on hold for over 5 minutes so he could speak to a supervisor, when he came back he said they would only take €50 e/w at 12/1 . My account would have shown a history of backing horses from this particular stable and with a bit of success, the horse ended up being placed but wasn't gambled, his s.p. was 14/1 and never moved in or out. I didn't bother backing online, went to shop and got bet on anyway but what a shower to deal with on the phone.
As for their new website, it's very slow in accepting bets as i found out to my misfortune. A couple of weeks ago i was trying to place a €10 reverse forecast on a horserace, despite being logged in when i was clicking the place bet button i kept being asked to log in:mad:. Anyhow didn't get bet on and lo and behold the 2 nags came in 1 and 2, the forecast paid just over €7 which meant i missed out on €50:mad::mad:. So rang up to complain and got the usual bull***t, we'll pass on to IT dept and you will be contacted etc. E-mailed them also but not a word in reply except some automated crap. C***s:mad:

I put a data request in to try and get a hold of the web logs. They first off told me that they wouldnt give them due to internet security reasons,

They then decided I couldnt have them and then I couldnt I would need to go through some gambling regulator crowd.

Then they decided that it would cost me £10 for data and they wouldnt confirm if the weblogs would be available

The legal charge for data is €6.35 but according to them they are regulated by isle of man law trading in ireland?? so would have to pay in sterling.

I have closed my account and so have two of my friends we've all moved over to Paddy Power

So a bookie that can afford to run 3 customers out the door in a recession is doing well !!

Aren't the majority of bookies registered there? Or Gibraltar, Channel Islands etc..something to do with taxes/laws/whatever

Apparently they aren't doin too well. Letting staff go form the head office by all accounts. Large outlays on poor return marketing campaigns like the Sunderland deal and the deal with Premier League darts being one major reason.

No, absolutely standard. Powers are also licensed in Isle of Man for the online business. Ladbrokes are Gibraltar, Bluesquare in Alderney(???) etc etc.

Tax reasons for the main part.

Now dont get me wrong dont like to see people losing jobs but when things are tough you'd wanna be doing your best to get people in the door ( like paddy powers passport office stunt) rather than p1ssing people off over €30!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

Personally I never liked Boylesports. Only ever use them when down the town and they have better odds than Ladbrokes which is 4 doors up (rarely happens).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭D3sperado

This sort of stuff happens in all the high street bookies not just Boyles

Having worked for them and PP I can guarantee you that you have a better chance of getting the benefit of the doubt with Boyles than any of the rest. Your best bet would be if you are a regular in one of the shops ask the manager to have a world with one of the area/district managers to look into it for you. They understand the business a lot better than the people in head office and are reluctant to lose a regular punter.

The reasons for having their internet/phone business in the Isle of Man is so that the Government cant force them to pay any tax on the bets.

Bazzy you'd proably be able to find the data you need on your own PC that would confirm the bet went through.

If you go into the system restore option and reset your internet history to the date you placed the bet it might bring up the page. Try and be as time specific as possible

A more likely, but more time consuming, way would be to bring up the index.dat files which will have your browsing history in them. There will be a shed load of them and you'll have to fine tooth comb through them.

Do a google on how to restore deleted history, deleted temporary files, index.dat files and so on. You could start a thread on the tec forum on here, some of the posters there are sh1t hot.

It could take you a few hours but if you're half as vindictive towards bookies as I am it'll be time well spent.

    Bonne chance
