Anyone know if you can buy a readymix filling over the counter? Just lost a filling and my dentist is closed. God knows when I'll get an appointment. The tooth I lost it from has had the nerve removed so not worried about the pain just a shredded tongue!

You can buy a temporary filling material in most chemists.
It will stop your tooth from cutting your tongue, but it won't strenghten the tooth.
The tooth needs a proper filling or preferably crown coverage for the long term (would be a shame to fracture it and have to have it extracted after having it root treated)

to add to what dave said, you'll decrease the chances of the root filling failing if you at least get some kinda temporary filling in while you wait to get it filled properly.
