An All-Irish Post Primary School, which hopes to open its doors in 2011, is now enrolling for 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Department of Education and Science has also been informed of the proposed school in writing and the letter along with the founding committee has been recognised under the patronage of Foras Pátrúnachta na Scoileanna Lánghaeilge.
A founding committee was established in 2008 with representatives from Rush, Swords and Balbriggan on the initial commitee.A patron was chosen in the form of An Foras Patrunacha and the name for the new Gaelcholaiste was voted on. The majority of the 16 strong committee decided that Colaiste Ghlor na Mara(the roar of the sea) was the most appropriate name.

The founding committee are currently registering students for 2011 onwards, full details are available on the website.

Nice one, well done to all who brought this to fruition,

This is the one to be built in Balbriggan? Were is it going to be located? How many student registrations are being forcasted? Will it be built for growth or built as the growth happens?

Good Luck (I havent got access to facebook today)

We are not over the line yet with regards to establishing the school, at present we are seeking student registrations and preparing our submission to the Dept. of Education.

There has been a strong response to the campaign in terms of enquiries and registration, so please pass the word on!!!

Full details are on the website http://www.ghlornamara.wordpress.com

    Many thanks for your support

Best of luck. We're a long way off enrolling ours into secondary (hasn't started primary yet) but Colaiste Ghlor na Mara would be our first preference for secondary providing it's in place. ;)

Thanks for your support! If you live in the area, please spread the word, as we need the parents to reigister their child's interest with the founding committee!

The Dept of Education & Skills have released the dates & language designations for new post primary schools for 2012/17.

Balbriggan has been designated as an Gaelcoláiste, which currently has a planned opening date of 2014.

The founding committee warmly welcome this step and will actively engage in the tendering process.

Please continue to register your interest for all upcoming school years, including 2012/13
