Most Effective way of upgrading to bluetooth?

    Hey guys

Have a Saab 93 Estate (06) with a Nokia Cark 91 car kit installed which was transferred over from the last car. Have already "upgraded" it with a pop port converter on the cradle for my current phone. However, getting an iPhone next week so need to start considering bluetooth.

What is the most cost effective way of making the switch here? I have seen bluetooth cradle converters for the Cark 91 (cost about 70 sterling) which I'd just have to stick into the cradle and it should work as a bluetooth. Equally I have seen parrot things for about 50/60 sterling... are they difficult to install and can I make use of any of the wires which are running to my Cark 91 currently?

    Any other suggestions?

    Cheers!

I'd kind of prefer it to be built into the system, mute the radio etc.

I would recommend the parrot mki9200 as it has a plug in connection for the iphone and bluetooth. I have it its a great piece of kit

The iphone can make & take calls over bluetooth but it has to be plugged in to play music.

That's not correct. I have the MKi9200 with an Iphone, and it can play music via Bluetooth. I only know it because the wife was playing with it in the back of the car, and it played the music through the Car Stereo.

Both correct, kinda. 2G and 3G iphones do not have the A2DP profile needed to stream the music, whereas the 3GS does. It is a very basic profile though, and you cannot use the stereo's buttons to control the music on the phone, even though most other phones with A2DP have been able to do this for years.

    What about this?
Sony MEX BT 3700 radio. Its on Pixmania for 130yoyo, 142.50 delivered.
I've just ordered mine, and it seems to get good reviews online. Also, this is 70yoyo cheaper here than halfords.

I'd avoid a Nokia bluetooth kit for use with an iPhone. The person at the other end hears an awful echo.
I'd go with a Parrot kit, I am planning to swap out my two Nokia CK-7W when they come top of the priority list for spending!

For connecting the iPhone to the car stereo for music purposes why not look into something like this:

    http://www.elkparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/2386

It is a "line in" set up for the Saab 93.

I have an older version of that, the 2500 I think. Its excellent. Got it for 150 in Halfords on sale about 2 years ago. Used it no problem with HTC/Sony Ericsson/iPhone (3GS) and nokia mobiles. As said above, the iPhone music player could not be controlled via the head unit, all the others could be though. This isnt a huge problem if you use a cradle, becuase the iPhone screen doesnt lock/turn off if connected by bluetooth to dock unless you want it to. It does dim a bit though so doesnt blind you on a dark road, but still allows you to see album art, etc... One tap "wakes" it back up again.

In all cases, music is paused with an incoming call, ringtone plays through speakers, and continues after hanging up. You could also keep the phone in your pocket, and push the volume knob in to answer/end a call.
