Always wear a mouth shield

Hi i just want to recommend to people to wear mouth protection be it a full face mask or mouth guards. Recently i was hit in the mouth and it broke my teeth and hurt like hell. It probely feels like a pain to wear mouth guard or whatever but trust me its worth it. anything that covers the mouth does

This is one of the reasons thats stopping me from moving from a mask to goggles/glasses.
Ive been looking around for a mesh lower face mask and was looking at the ones that puding linked but they seem to be a bit pricey.Are they the only ones available or is there a cheaper alternative ?

Puding - are those neoprene face masks any good? I'm thinking about getting something that's readily available in Ireland that'll do the job, but that's not a full mask (prefer to use goggles & helmet).

i know a lot of people use them but i do not like them myself for a couple of reasons

1) i find them to hot and stuffy
2) it has give, if im trying to protect my teeth i do not want something that has enough give to still allow the bb to impact the tooth in a worse case scenario ( yes the act of hitting the mask will absorb some of the energy but just my point of view )
3) always hind it hard to use a headset with a neoprene mask

but i know a lot of people use them without issue, it really comes down to personal preference the same as goggle there is no universal solution that is perfect for everyone

Cheers Puding. Those mesh shields look fantastic and would work well with goggles/helmet set up so I'll try to get my hands on one of those. Trouble is I just don't like the look of the full plasticy face masks - but I imagine I'd like the look of having a chipped tooth even less!

Ino they are uncomfortable and a down right pain but they are really worth it. Blood and broken teeth are not fun lads trust me. i found this

I use a Sansei-style mask's face part with some padding on the inside and an elastic strap running down around the back of my neck so it can rest on my nose. I can flip it up when I'm expecting company but drop it easily for running about or having a biccie.

Neoprene masks are worthless. I've seen damage done through them, they're tight against the skin so don't help with sore hits either.

It's not flat against your face or tight at all, the one I have usually sticks up on its own roughly an inch from my face/mouth.

I do the exact same thing as Dave except with a shemagh, keep it loose around my neck and bite it to keep it up if you know there's a chance you'll be hit close range. Simplest thing to use really:)

Ah i see exactly what you mean now... see two team mates have the same thing as you(i thought) and its up agenst thier face... I for one can not breath AT ALL with somthing cover my face like my Paki Scarf(sorry if i used a incorrect term for the scarf)!
