How old are they? Have they been attacked/spooked in recent days?

Mine have done exactly the same. I think the cold snap last week affected them, and they haven't started up again since. They all still look perfectly healthy, so I'm expecting them to get back into business over the next few days now that the temps are back up again. Will let you know.

Just something to consider, is something stealing the eggs? Dogs, grey crows, rats are all possible culprits.

We've a hen laying in the ditch - not easy to break her of the habit so far but there were 2 eggs stolen yesterday - all of the above are suspects. :)

Definitely nothing stealing eggs in my place - they're very secure in a nest box. The hens are back to laying every other day now, so about 10 eggs a week from 3 hens as opposed to the usual 18 a week.

    Hi Daithi BC
Just wondering what type of hens you have? are they hybrid?

They look like Rhode Island Reds, but they are hybrid. I've had them a year now, and they're back to laying full time after about a week off in the cold in February.
