Parish notice for anyone who's interested

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Men & Motors.

We can confirm that the channel will close on the Sky platform at 06.00 on 1 April. Channel 178 will be used for ITV1 HD from 2 April.

Surely Men and Motors would have been one of the Pay TV services that the new ITV CEO is interested in developing. Even if he has no faith in any pay services with the currently line up of ITV TV channels. :rolleyes:

The very last GSB channel, in fact. Granada Plus closed down to make way for ITV3 some years ago.

Granada Men and Motors was meant to do the same when ITV4 closed, but it was cheap to run and a bit of a cash cow so ITV kept it alive. But its been on life support ever since. As part of a deal between ITV and Sky, if Men and Motors had been sold Sky would have got half, making a sale less attractive for ITV. In the end it is closing down for the exact same reason Plus closed down - to give ITV1-HD a prime EPG position instead of being placed at the end of the EPG.
