Baby push chair (AerLingus) ?

Travelling with AerLingus to Paris soon, and I have a Q about a childs buggy (foldable push-chair). As our child is 2 & half years old we couldn't book her as an infant, and on AL's site it states that the buggy is ONLY FREE for an infant booking, and that normal baggage rates apply (if I'm reading it right). Now if I have pre-booked 2 bags and assume these are filled to near their limits, 20kg, and any excess is kg is charged at €9, then if the buggy weighs 5kg, am I stung for €45 ??!! or will they just take the buggy at the plane and store it at the front or something (as I've been told by a holiday rep!). Has anyone had a similar experience with the same scenario ? Note: I've tried ringing AL but after 4 options and then a further 6 options I still don't get through to ask someone about a 'general' query !!!!!!!!:(

    From their site:
    Baby Push Chair
The push-chair must be checked in with the baggage and can be handed down at the gate if required
    >Shorthaul
A fully collapsible push-chair is allowed free of charge for an infant booking only. All other baggage must be included in the accompanying adult's baggage allowance

I think it means that you can't bring any additional baby equipment/baggage on board for infants. I've never had any issue bringing a buggy on. I can't see there being any problem at all but if you're in doubt just give them a buzz, they'll tell you straight away.

This looks new. I read it as that the buggy must be included in the checked in luggage allowance, and falls under the 20k total. But that you can still check the buggy in at the gate. They would be insane to make parents check in a buggy at the desk.

Thanks folks, I hope ye are right, I think I'll chance bringing it.

Thats the thing, I tried ringing but all you get is a list of options followed by a list of more options, and none of them point me in the direction of a 'general query' !!!:o

Yeah.My buggy is 12lbs. That would take up a huge amount of the allowance. Its obnoxious policy alrightd and forces the parent to pay for checked in luggage. Your tot is also entitled to carry on so maybe maximize that, if you can manage two carry ons and a tot.

On the other hand, maybe it can be included as part of your hand luggage allowance?

hi, i flew with aer lingus last week with my daughter, 2&1/2 and there was no charge for the buggy.
when checking in just tell them you have the buggy, they will put tags on it, you keep it with you till you board the plane, they will take it from you then.
    hope this helps.x

Update: yep, my fears were unfounded. There was no charge, they even ask if you want to keep it with you until you are boarding. In Cork, you just drop it off at 'Excess baggage'.
