A remake of a Charles Bronson classic starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster, certainly sounds good to me and from the look of the trailer it seems that were in for an action treat.

nice one, i've been looking for a good mechanic.

do you think he does a full service? :D

Only gripe is that Bronson actually looked old enough to be training a protege in the original (he was 50), whereas Statham doesn't (he's 38)

I also don't think Statham has the same kind of screen presence as Bronson to pull this off.

My prediction, Foster will steal Stathams thunder.

    I concur.

At lease Statham isn't trying to put on that woeful American accent of his.

Classic? Twas middling fare, a very typical Winner/Bronson production line number. Statham is doing well for a block of wood.

Foster and Sutherland Snr in it too.

J.S is carring the can in the action stakes at the moment gone are the days of willis/stallone/arnie/gibson etc having action flicks out Need more good old fashioned action flicks where the man kicks ass rather than some lady. The lad that was in That airwolf series was Bronsons apprentice Jean micheal vincent i think was his name.Who cares about the plot its entertainment be it mindless. The transporter movies got more ridiculous but there entertaining no brainers i love em .And will look forward to this pity its a remake but there dont seem to be any original ideas coming from hollywood nowadays.

I like Statham, he seems to be keeping that popcorn-munching action hero status alive. He's built like a brick ****-house and is fun to watch.

Should be entertaining at the very least.

i like statham he knows the type of film he is good at (action) and sticks to it and foster is also very talented so should be good

Oh dear, another classic film being needlessly remade. The original holds up very well today. Great action movie. Bronson and Vincent are great in their roles. This really saddens and annoys me.

Statham is a charmless and overrated excuse for an action star, perfect for the Dane Cook generation. Hey maybe next they can remake The French Connection starring Vin Diesel.

While I agree with you I ask you, who are the alterntives?

Sthatham may be exactly the same character in every movie but who else out there doing these roles at the moment is any good?

This may be a remake of a classic but to my mind it looks like the next Transporter where the Transporter simply trains an apprentice.

That said, I'll still watch it (on DVD) as I like my brainless action movies every now and then and I know my Mrs will sit through it if she thinks Statham will get his kit off :D

I'm not sure who the alternative would be as I really wish it wasn't being remade. I think Bronson is one of the legendary action stars and this is probably his finest role so I consider it a big let-down for a guy like Statham, who in my opinion wouldn't be a star in an earlier era, to be playing the role. I mean Bronson from the seventies versus Statham? The latter wouldn't have a chance. :D

As L31mr0d said, Bronson looked the part of an experienced, grizzled veteran so if they absolutely had to remake it then I'd like someone around that age in the role. Maybe a guy like Kurt Russell. At least he's near to the age Bronson was.

be interesting to see this ...

agree with the other posters ... i would have perfered someone older instead of Jason Statham .... that looks like they have been around longer ...
cant see this having the same ending as the origial

Watched it on monday and i enjoyed it. Good harmless fun and decent bit of action. Worth a trip to the cinema imo. 7/10 for me

Watched it last night. Personally I enjoyed it for what it was - another action movie with Statham doing his usual and plenty of guns & explosions :)

i enjoyed it aswell, raw action flick

i like ben foster as an actor too, for me hes been good in 3;10 to yuma, alpha dog and that recent sci fi flick, and is good in this also

it gets 7/10 from me aswell

    worth the watch

It was OK, just saw it mysely earlier today, Ben Foster was the best actor by far in the movie. There's nothing new or unique in this but it passes away 88 mins ok, tbh i big selling point was seeing Mini Anden nekid...that's Carina from Chuck, body from hell!

I found all the characters unlikable + Foster became a mechanic in montage quick time, personally The Trnsporter was a better flick in terms of action, stunts and enjoyment. This movie had an old skool sorta 70's vibe to it.

    2.5/5

Watched this tonight and it is far from JS's best, at most a 6 out of 10. There wasnt enough hand to hand fights which he is superb at. I am a JS fan but this was a mess. To me it is the type of film he should have been doing before he made it! If this is the type of films he is going to be offered he had better re-invent himself quickly!

Was it just me or was there loads of microphones in shot?

Dodgy aspect ratio. The film should be 2.35:1. You were probably watching the open matte version.

Non-anamorphic films have the top and bottom of the frame cropped to create the widescreen ratios we see in the cinema and on DVD. The camera operator knows this and doesn't care if a boom mic floats into the top of the shot.

I don't mind him at all but I do get sick of repetition - The Expendibles was the last I'll probably see of him for a good while until something crops up on TV - Kudos for his success but it is a bit boring seeing the same character re-injected into multiple movies - I don't think he's a terrible actor or that he doesn't have some charm/charisma, I think it's just expected that he stick to what seems to be working for him at the moment - And, well, that being the role of no-nonsense action-man.

Schwarzenegger did this in most of his films, playing very similar type characters that just stuck to what was written on the script. Ot was only films like End of Days were he showed he could change his sterotype.

I to like Statham but he needs to evolve as an actor otger wise he'll end up making straight to dvd films like Stephen Seagal (who only has about 5 decent films to his name)

Knowing Hollywood we'll probably have a couple of these films in.tge same vein as "Tge Transporter series"

Also.I thought Ben Foster didnt bring much to the role compared to.any of his other films.
