Why is this guy an authority on fashion? Has he just bumbled around the RTE studios until he got a slot in a show that he vaguely has an interest in?

This is once again another RTE apostasy - placing the known faces of the ol Oirland media presenter fraternity into anything they're seldom qualified to speak about.

This isn't After Hours. Are those comments acceptable here now?

As far as I remember, he produced and hosted the Clothes Show in the UK for several years before winning the contract to do this show. As I don't watch the show, I can't comment on his abilities but I suppose if you were used to drooling over Pamela Flood and Caroline Morahan, it could be quite a disappointment to have him on instead

    When is honesty ever unacceptable?

From the Off the Rails website:

Brendan Courtney is an art director and broadcaster both in Ireland and the UK. He studied Art Direction at London's premier Fashion College, Central Saint Martins.

Brendan's TV career began in Ireland as fashion researcher and reporter on RTÉ's Open House... Over the past 5 years Brendan has co-produced and presented The Clothes Show in the UK... In addition Brendan runs the UK's hugely successful personal styling and fashion direction service Ihatemylook.com.

So OP in instead of spending 2 seconds googling to find the answer to your rather pointless question you decided to start yet another thread bashing RTE for actually hiring somebody that is qualified. Good man.

And I did stop to google it at least, you might be happy to know, but didn't really come across much evidence of his exalted qualifications.

Brendan Courtney (born 24 June 1972, Clondalkin, Dublin) is an Irish comedian and television presenter. He is openly homosexual. He has been linked with famous Irish synchronized swimmer Caroline Walsh. The pair broke up after Courtney discovered his true sexuality. The pair are still friends.`In 2009 Courtney decided to take legal action against a persistent stalker of his. The trial lasted 5 days and Aoife Carey was convicted of harassment and attempted bodily harm and was not permitted to come within 100 metres of Brendan Courtney. The whole experience was said to be an extremely terrifying and traumatic experience as Carey has been known as an infamous harrasser among famous presenters. Most recently, on Saturday 4th November 2009, Carey was spotted at live clothes exhibition 'Off the Rails - The Total Experience'which Courtney was presenter with co-host of the show [Off the Rails: airs Wed nights 8pm rte1]. Security were called when members of the public spotted Carey and reported it. Carey was escorted off the premises while Courtney was left, shaken and in great distress after this horrific ordeal.

I apologise for not conducting a more incisive background check on the guy - wiki was the best I could do in my research.

    Derogatory comments deleted.
Is that you, Brendan? And can you see your own back?

Since this is the OP's attitude, I see no reason to keep this thread open.

    Locked.
