Here is what I saw this morning but could not test drive due to car blocked in at yard. Sales office is a portcabin unit with 2 dogs inside.

Its a father and son run business from what I could make out.
I was dealing with the son.

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Honda/Civic/1.5*AUTO/201005196821736/advert?channel=CARS

No auction sheet from Japan available to confirm mileage.

Spare tyre is one of those emergency type ones....no mention whether he would supply one.

Bodywork clean, no marks or dents upon visual inspection.

Radio is a Jap cassette radio ,no RDS capability CD/Player, asked him was he prepared to put on a band expander, he was not, said I could pick one up handy.

No NCT yet but he will guarantee NCT and service car.

Battery is Jap and will need to be replaced.....dealer agreed to replace this.

Tyres are brand new but no alloys.

Only offering a 3 month guarantee and son only offered me €1,750 on my 2002 trade in.
So balance to pay of €5k he said.

Thing is I was offered €2,000 only 2 weeks ago by Michael Brabble Motors for a Mits Lancer Auto but that deal fell through.

Then I said to the son the deal was too tight and I was not comfortable.

Father hears this and comes out of portacabin and says, "Are ya willing to deal today or not" I answered I am only shopping around for the best deal for me. I have more Honda Civics to see in Dublin.

Father then says to me, well its like shopping , come back to me when you are ready to deal????? I felt like telling him to fcuk right off.

By the way the son looked really embarrassed during the fathers comments to me.

I liked the son and thought he was a sound guy. Might have been willing to negiotate with son but Father was a tool.

Any comments from Honda Civic heads??

Is there an issue with Japanese batteries ?

If there is no auction sheet with the car then assume the mileage is not correct. Personally I think that is crazy money for a 6 year old medium size auto saloon.

OP did you try selling your old car privately and then going back with cash? It will probably work out cheaper for you.

Well its dead, car was on a ship for 6 weeks and has been left dormant for a few weeks....

Jap batteries are a slimer version of the square box type we use in Europe.....

    Lesson over, lol

The price is reasonable compared to what Imports direct and other dealers are looking for.
Same year and mileage is €7,250 with www.importsdirect.ie

Yes I did try selling my car privatley and had just 1 call in 3 months.

From what I can see dealers buy for about €4,000 and shipping is €870 approc to Ireland so they are still making a nice profit margin.

6 six weeks on a boat is nothing, mine was over 6 weeks getting here was jumped once at the docks to get her going on collection same with the girlfriends (again over 6 week, and god knows how long in storage in japan) both are running strong, nothing wrong with japanese batteries

And i would not fit a band expander most will still not show up the correct station numbers even with these fitted, better off with a new radio imo

The only issue i would have with the car is why no auction sheet?? can the importer be contacted for a replacement or verification of mileage?
