Hey everyone. I would like to know if anyone has traveled to Iceland recently particularly to Blue lagoon where the geothermal spa is? I have some questions regarding the place.

    1. is it expensive in Iceland particularly around the area of Blue lagoon? ie. foods, transport and night life.
    2. Would you recommend to stay in Blue lagoon accommodation?
    3. what else can you do around the area of blue lagoon.

Honestly when I saw the spa in Hostel 2 I always thought of this place. Would love to hear everybody's comment with regards to the place. Thanks.

No I don't think its expensive, compared to Ireland. I personally think its much cheaper in Iceland, but it depends on where you go... Iceland has its fare share of expensive shops and restaurants.

Are for "area of Blue lagoon"... Its located close to Grindavík which is basically the middle of no where, about 20 minutes drive from town of Keflavík or 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik. There is almost no nighlife in Grindavík (Keflavík has some) and I would not recommend anything other than a quick visit maybe to Grindavík's Salt fish museum and a coffee in the Grindavík petrol station cafe!
    2. Would you recommend to stay in Blue lagoon accommodation?

Maybe, but max 1 night in Northern Light Inn http://www.northernlightinn.is/ Remember there is no where to walk to, no pubs in the area. So if you want quite meditation or romantic seclusion then ok. But cabin fever may set in after 24 hours
    3. what else can you do around the area of blue lagoon.
The general area is called Reykjanes http://reykjanes.is/ and it is my personal favourite place in Iceland to drive, hike, walk and explore the country side. A car is 100% essential in this area in summer and 4x4 jeep in winter.

thank you very much for a well detailed info and links about this place in Iceland. Really appreciate it.

I would definitely go there but will plan nicely so I can explore the other areas near Blue Lagoon.

    Thanks again!
