Alloy wheel repair kits?

Are they any good? Has anyone ever used them and do they work?
I've a typical scrape about 3 or 4 inches long on the rim of one alloy caused by being forced to mount a very nasty kerb when some idiot workmen didn't even leave enough room for you to get past without doing so on my road... it's annoying me now because other than that my alloys are immaculate so I was thinking of giving one of these kits a go as the damage isn't too bad and I think it should be easy enough to fix, but I've heard quite bad reviews about alot of these kits. Would it be worth giving one a go or should I bite the bullet and get it done professionally??

I tried the Halfords one a couple of years ago. It was useless as the grey colour was way too flat and didn't match the wheel colour.

Try and find out the colour code for the whell and get the correct paint. You'll find lots of write ups on the web if you do a search.
