Swapping sky box's

I have a sky+ box downstairs and an old sky box upstairs. The TV downstairs has recently broke and I want to bring the sky+ box upstairs to watch a film that is recorded to the HDD.

Is there a reason why I can't do this because the sky+ box won't seem to switch on properly upstairs, the red light doesn't turn green even though the led on the box to show a button has been pressed on the remote will still flash.

Their is only one satellite connection going into the sky+ box upstairs but I don't see why this would make a difference to it turning on.

I also don't have it plugged into the Internet but I didn't have it plugged in downstairs eitheir so it should make a difference.

Should be no reason for it not to work upstairs? Have you the LNB connection going to Input 1?

Very stange it should work you should a least see the sky menu. Where your downstairs TV and Sky box running of the same power plug, extension cable ?

Is it possible a power surge damaged your TV and Skybox ? Any tripped swithes on your ESB box?

Edit : I see it's fixed itself , good to hear
