Why Does it Take the BBC to track down Monster

Its perhaps a sensitive topic but i am fascinated and appalled at how little coverage has been given in the Irish media about the Recent Outing of a notorious Pedophile Former Priest Bill Carney. This monster appeared in the recent Murphy report. An excellent undercover News night program exposed him having lived openly and newly married running a family friendly Guest house in Scotland "His wife knew nothing about his past" and now exiled to the canary islands after his exposure in the English print Media.

I am astonished at how little reaction there has been in the Irish Media, apart from a brief mention on six one the day after the News night program featured.

Eamon Keane of Newstalk did to be fair interview the mother of a suicide victim, her sons suicide can and was attributed to the abuse at the hands of Carney.

I will leave my thoughts at this as i don't want to go to far as i was acquainted with this nasty individual.

I will accept Pm's from any interested Journalists, there is much that has not been revealed about this ex priest.

    News night link is below

Thanks for starting this off, yes this Guy was quite unbelievable and prolific, i was just amazed given the hysteria over the bishops and now cardinal that little if anything has been reported about this Monster.

You are staying in tabloid mode in fairness, calling him a 'Monster' .

Certainly condemn his actions, he was the most evil of people, but this tabloidspeak weakens revulsion people have for him, in my opinion.

Fair enough, there are many words one could use to describe this individual, monster being the most pleasant that came to mind, this guy not only preyed on Parishioners but also was a Chaplin to a number of children's homes, one particular issue that appalled me was the fact he was permitted to practice as a priest in various parish's long after his conviction for indecent assault (x2) in 1983 followed on by him having the neck to demand £30k To leave the parochial house on sun drive road.

It's a sad reflection on how we as consumers of media operate, but I think this story could easily get lost in the melee over the Cardinal. The feeding frenzy is already moving on to other topics (Seanie Fitz, etc) and it will be another few months before the public is ready to be sickened again. Just look at tonight's Late Late - earlier today, RTE's own website were promoting the appearance of Fr Brian Darcy and Monsignor Dooley. A guaranteed heated debate, you would think, potentially fuelling a few more headlines for a couple more days. But no, instead, we had a loaded developer cracking jokes about Nama and 2 over-the-hill actors plugging their latest show in the Gaiety. Way to tap into the public mood, RTE...
