Right so I'm quite recently interested in airsoft, reading around I'm torn between the JG G36c, the metal classic army m15 a4 and AGM M4 carbine (opinions welcome) and I know my first pistol would be a Baretta (sexy).

Anyway, not being a hippie but being interested in such things where availiable, I was curious about biodegradable bbs performance wise if anyones tried them? (I also figure it one less strike against a sport perhaps easily negativly judged)

that about sums it up for the first post,
    cheers

JG G36 = you wont go wrong, one of the best starter AEG you can get

Classic Army = my advise is stay well away, the external finish is very good but the internals leave them down big time

AGM = no major problems, a good sound make all round

When you say your first pistol will be a Beretta, I assume you mean an M9, if so the ones made by KSC/KWA are among the best and are great value for money

With regards to the Bio BB's my advice is to buy decent quality ones.
I have bought cheaper ones, but they were utter rubbish.

I generally stick to G&G BB's,very good quality and never had a problem with them at all.

If my memory serves me right I think the Take Aim mag did a comparison test on a rake load of bb's a few editions ago. And out of the bio bbs, the G&G Bios came out on top. (I could be wrong so someone else may correct me anyway).

Hobby Airsoft and GoTactical both stock the G&G bbs as far as I am aware.

ok i have a g36c its gone swimming being dropped countless times and still firing at a solid 310 fps this gun will take a lot of punishment although i dont recomend goin swimming with it though just an example of thedurability of the jg and dont buy raptor bio bb's they have been found to be uneven and can damage the barrel after long periods of use:)

As mntioned above don't touch the Raptor bio bbs!!!;)
I couldn't even use one midcap full before they jammed the barrel.

As stated above the JG G36 makes an excellent AEG for beginners and old hats alike. Also you mentioned M4's, try the G&G Plastica range of M4's!!
They are excellent. Gearbox is top quality inside a plastic bodied M4.
And very reasonably priced. A couple of retailers in and around Dublin normally stock them.:)

Bio BBs run a little more expensive than non-bios, but such is often the way with the ecologically sounder option. Yes, cheap ones can be bad for your gun, but in exactly the same way as cheap non-bios (avoid also the normal Raptor brand, for example). As mentioned previously, the G&G brand are good, and I had no problems with Gunfire.

At the moment in Ireland, several sites require the use of bios - certainly any site on Coillte land, which includes Airsoft Battle Zone, South-East Airsoft Club and Midlands Airsoft Club, and as far as I know at the present time none disallow them (there have been stories of cheap ones splintering when hitting mesh goggles, but unlike the stories of teeth being knocked out, which actually does happen, I've never heard of anyone who knows anyone it's happened to so basically you needn't worry about splintering).

Stored normally, I haven't noticed any problem with bio BBs starting to biodegrade before use, but it's probably a good idea to keep them in an airtight container with a pack of silica gel do not eat. G&G come in just such a bag with just such a pack.

There is some wondering if they actually degrade like they claim to. I haven't researched it but no doubt some mentalist is running tests by leaving various brands in flower pots for 6 months or something. If you're concerned about the truth of the manufacturers' claims it might be interesting to do some Web searching. If you do please post up what you find, I'd be interested because I generally use bios myself as a combination of usually playing on Coillte sites and a vague leave-the-countryside-as-you-found-it ethos.

I highly recommend the KJ Works carbon dioxide Beretta M9 (available under the Cybergun rebrand from Hobby Airsoft, too). Extremely satisfying and snappy blow-back, it'll turn anyone into a 1980s action hero.

    Cheers for the replies fellas.

Am leaning towards the JG g36c as much as i like the M4's.. don't really want to spent the amount on a good metal M4 without knowing whether this is a passing hobby or not heh. The plasic M4's look great but from reading they're a little lighter (i like things having a good solid weight to them) and well atleast the real g36 is polymer..

Good to know about the bio bb's, i'd read a review of sorts here http://www.airsoftmechanics.com/home/content/view/14/29/ but it's always useful to get a real world opinion too.

I'm a real tinkerer with such things and by the sounds theres good scope for tinkering, so maybe a 2nd hand metal m4 could come later :)

Is a shame i fall for expensive hobbies :/
