    Hey
Would anyone be able to inform me how a psychologist helps a person? I tried the psychology forum, but got no responses. Cheers

I don't know if this is the same for all of them, but I went to a psychologist for a few sessions, all he did was find out my background so he could write up a report and refer me to a psychiatrist!

This is just my opinion, but I would see a psychologist as someone who would help a person explore their own thoughts and issues and work out a way to help themself. If you have problems within your life you would be helped to see a way through them, or possibly cope with them. A psychiatrist is someone who diagnoses mental health issues and might deal with them by discussion or medication or both.

I'm open to correction on this, it is only an interpretation, my view of what they do, I am sure it is much more complex and there are more technical ways of describing it.
