Mazda2 Vs Fiesta - Scrappage Deals

If you were going to buy one or other of the 5 door versions of the Mazda2 or Fiesta under the scrappage deal which would you go for?

I've been quoted an on the road price on the fiesta(1.25) for about 12,900 vs 13200 for the mazda 2 (touring version).

Since the mazda seems to have a built in alarm that pretty much equals out the price between the two cars(though warranty is 2 years on Fiesta vs 3 years for Mazda2). I've tried the mazda out, not the fiesta so far but both are supposed to be fairly equivalent.

It might not still be the case but I know in the past Mazda parts & therefore servicing were quiet expensive. Maybe not so important in new car anyway...

You should be getting the Fiesta Style 5-door for a least €12,600; unless your quote of €12,900 includes some added extras that you requested. Personally I'd choose the Fiesta over the Mazda. I drove the Fiesta 1.25 and it's a great car with loads of power from the 82bhp engine. You wouldn't think you're driving a supermini at all, feels like a car from a class above. Looks much better than the Mazda too IMO.. The Fiesta comes with alloys as standard too, not sure about the Mazda. The 1.25 engine in the Fiesta is 82bhp as standard too, and I don't know much about the engines in the Mazda 2 tbh..

    I'd go with the Fiesta.

That did include metallic paint and delivery but nothing else.

The mazda touring does come with alloy wheels though.

I know someone that got a Fiesta 5-Door Style for €12,600 and that included metallic paint and delivery.

Any suggestions for dealers with better prices would be very welcome :)

I'll have to query this a bit more.

I did see a fiesta 5 door for 12,050 but it was tango red. Really not sure about that colour. I'd more likely go for the dark grey or silvers.

Isn't the Fiesta and the Mazda2 the same car?

Ford and Mazda have been sharing platform for a few years now.

Yup, they are the same under the skin.

I reckon the Mazda might hold onto it's value slightly better due to their relative rarity on the roads. Drove a 1.3 before and thought it was a nice little car. Fiesta looks more substantial though. If the Mazda had air con I'd go for it over the Fiesta, otherwise the Fiesta

Thanks for the input, its all a great help.

I think the mazda does have manual aircon as standard. The alarm is also standard. The cheapest ford dealer I had a quote from is quoting 350 for this even though its on ford.ie site for €200(cost of fitting maybe?). Cd with aux in mazda, I think this is an option on the fiesta (not sure).

I think the Fiesta is a bit more substantial weight wise (200kg) based on what I've seen on forums etc. Mazda chopped off the weight to make the car a bit zippier it seems.

Heres a quick comparison of the cars I found through the interweb

Anyone any thoughts on the Fiesta 1.4TDCI? Are they any good, or are they to be avoided....
