Im bisexual, but my main problem is that I know absolutely no LBGT people and have no friends in the community, at least none that I know of. Any lgbt people from the midlands or Athlone. I just want to know that Im not alone in the midlands.

    hey there,

you are without doubt not alone.... im gay and live in the midlands too (not too far from athlone too) .. ... know absolutely no other lgbt's, had planned on going to the meet up in dublin at the start of march but couldn't make it ... it is hard down here to meet other people in the same boat... it just isn't as open and accepting as bigger places like dublin... i don't think i could ever dream of coming out down here... it is depressing at times... bottling up who you are just because of fear of what everyone will think of you, it aint healthy way of life...

i'm 31m from athlone and there are a good few out gay lads around the town. u should try outwest or gay westmeath - you'll get details on these if u search online. they usually run disco's and functions arounds the west and northwest. or u could try gaydar but this is only really for hook up's. depends on what you're after i suppose.

BTW I'm out and have never had a minute's hassle here - sometimes the thought of being out is a lot worse than the reality of it..

    Have you looked at http://gaywestmeath.com/

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
