Hello, Is it possible have a PTZ web cam (possibly with night vision) connected to a laptop that can be controlled through Skype from another pc or is this really IP camera territory? thanks

Yes, It would be a remote monitoring type application. Have tried logmein but image quality is very poor

Is the video better on Skype, and it is the control of the camera is the problem?

I would expect that a script could be written to read text chat in Skype and transfer the commands to the camera controller .....

Would an Remote Desktop connection to the pc be any better.

At least you'd be able to control the video as in 16bit or 32bit. Hmm I'm not too sure how other people do it.
