bipods and sling

lads i managed to pick up my rifle today, im looking to put a bipod and sling on it but, i cant see where is attaches to there doesnt seem to be a place for it to screw in, can i get a bipod that clamps on, and same for the sling, have no real experience with bipods etc

i'd avoid any bipod that clamps onto a barrel. There must be QD studs on the stock. What type of rifle is it

You can buy screw in QD studs and affix them yourself. Then you buy the swivel which attaches to these.......put sling through these.

Just go to a gun dealer and get a stud off an old rifle.
Drill a small pilot hole 1mm
Then screw in stud.
Oh if timber attach some wood glue, synthetic superglue.
Then after a day attach bipod/sling swivel and happy shooting

Harris bipods last years, I have 2 for 7 years as good as new

I love them. I bought a pair of telescoping ones, however, two sticks tied together is fine. I do like the cradle on the Vanguard.

Usually, I know before hand whether the shot will be prone, standing, or what have you. After a bit of practice, you will get the sticks out and gun ready in seconds. True, I will have to take a few more seconds, however, the target is down if it is within 300m, almost guaranteed. You will want the legs previously adjusted.

I tend to not want to mess at all with the stock. Changing the way the vibrations go through the rifle (resonant frequencies) is not high on my list of things to do. However, that's probably me just being a Physics Freak.

Do attached bipods come tall enough to shoot standing? That seems almost more awkward. If your game is lamping and you know the ditches, then I would argue for the attached. Also, if you are going to be sitting on the hill all day and waiting for the shot, the attached bipod may be a good idea.

If the shot is less than 100, I am going iron sights off the shoulder, in which case I do not want sticks on the rifle at all and they are promptly dropped.

Also, I like to hunt with someone. As a team, we have one shooter and the other glasses (uses binoculars) the area , readies the sticks, carries stuff, et al. Once the shooter harvests we switch duties and the domestique becomes King for the day, so to speak.

Using a harris swivel 13-26 bipod and have to say its the dogs nuts. Not a lover of lying down in a field and i find you get a more steady shot whilst neiling down.

does it not have a stud at the front and back of the stock to attach slings.

if not, you can buy them and drill a pilot hole and screw them in your self simple enough.

make sure you dont drill the hole into the barrel, measure the the length of the stud thread and put some tape on the drill bit the appropriate length up to avoid drilling to deep.

once you have a stud you can attach the bi-pod to that no problem.

i'd advise getting the harris bi-pod, i'v had other makes and even though they look the same they are not

no doesnt have any studs, im off tomorrow so im going to try and find a dealer with studs to screw in, il prob just take the stock off when drilling

lads i can only find these studs the machined screw is grand, but will the wood screw hold in a syntetic stock
