Bit of a long story but the shot version is. Bil has worker the same guy 20 years. He was given the option years ago to buy in but bil couldnt. New guy buys shares and joins in the daily running. So he became bil joint boss.
Roll on a few years few problems here and there but nothing major.

Then last year bil broke his leg and done major damage and had to take some time off, the first time ever and was put on very strong painkillers.
But even when he was off because hes a key holder and lives right beside the place he would still open up some early mornings to let the cleaner in or for a delivery. And also if the alrm ever went off he would have to meet the police.

He went back when he could but was still on the painkillers. And has been fairly stressed since.

He was told by the new boss last week that they wanted him to see an independent doctor to get a letter to say hes fit for work. He went to his own gp cause he has his history. Boss A says yeh fine start back on tuesday. He than gets a letter signed by boss B to say they are not acepting it and that he has to see a different doc. He than sees boss A on the street and hes all chat saying he would see him in the morn. It became obvious that there was no comunication between both bosses and that boss B seems to be behind it all. there has no reason for all of this he feels they are trying to get rid of him.

Its hard to explain fully but this is the overall issue.
Hes not in a union. And i have no idea i told him id ask here cause he realy in a state and doesnt know what to do.
Hes the breadwinner with 5 young kids the youngest being 1 year old triplets and have a big mortgage.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Hope this makes sense.

It would not be unusual for an employer to ask that a second or independent medical opinion be obtained. Usually your bil's gp would write to the other doctor with his observations. The second doc would then decide whether or not he agreed with the first one.

Jo king thanks for the speedy reply.
So his gp would have to write to the other gp first, would the original letter that his gp gave him for his boss not do.
So as to save time he could just bring a copy of this.
    sorry for the questions.

Letters exchanged between doctors are usually more technical. Symptoms would be described and the reasons for diagnosis set out. A letter given for work purposes will usually simply identify the condition and timescale for recovery with possibly a comment on the ability to perform certain types of work.

It's probably something to do with an insurance policy they have to cover them for instances where employee's are out sick for a long time - the insurer will want the employee to see an independent doctor.

Since it sounds like a small company, I would also suggest that he gets both bosses in a room together and asks them what the official line is.

Hi seamus, yes its a small co. Its now looking like some sort of vandeta against bil coming from boss no 2 as they have never got on.
Because boss now 1, original boss who would have hired bil is not in support of all of this and didnt even know what had been writen in the last letter.
He has told bil on the phone that its nothing to do with him and himself and the other boss arent talking now over this. His words were that he was sick of being dictated to in his own bussiness. Boss no 2 wanted to speack to bil gp and wanted bil to give the ok to do this he hasnt even given bil the name of the gp he want him to visit. It getting very very messy now. So bil went to a solicitor today, and is just leaving it in the solicitors hands. Hes been told one thing by one boss and another by the other.
    Thanks to everyone who applied.
