New sky + HD box help!!

Hi all got a brand new sky HD box supplied and fiitted yesterday everything working fine.I came home today switched on the box it comes on sky + HD please wait.few seconds the screen goes blank no picture or sound and like a little green cursor flashing around the screen.help needed here big time the box will not do anything!

THere is no number on the box will have to ring sky unreal the box is not 24 hrs old!

My ps3 is connected to the same tv and that's not working all the lights are on on picture or video??

Have you tried turning it off and back on again? :P

But, seriously, are the Sky+ HD and PS3 both connected via HDMI or Scart? If it's Scart are the connections for source sharing in the right way around on the Sky box, i.e. Scart from PS3 into VCR, TV Scart into TV

If they're HDMI try to narrow down the cause. Check the connections to make sure they are solid. Plug out the Sky+ HD HDMI to see if PS3 works and vice versa.

Sky boxes are notorious for needing to be rebooted which is the last course of action before ringing Sky to see if they can take you through any diagnostics outside of the norm.

There both connected via hdmi I pluged them both out brought in the HD tv from the kitchen connected the sky to that one worked fine, so on the sky box I went into settings and where it has 1080i I changed this to automatic pluged it all back in seems to fine now?now did this fix the problem or could it have been a bad connection as you say the tv does support 1080i on both do!

Have you tried connecting everything and doing a total factory reset of your TV

No Jimmy how do I rest the tv? It's a Phillips 42" LCD thanks for the help from both you and Dermutt

I had a similar problem with my Freesat HD+ box the first couple of times, green screen, not showing BBC HD channel, etc. Did the unplug, reset thing and has worked fine since. Software? Hardware? I don't know, the more complicated these things get the more like us they become... picky, sensitive bastards :P
