UK TV Show Builds a Replica of ModWar 2's Pit Level

Brit TV program The Gadget Show builds a real-life version of The Pitt, Special Forces solider to take on the challenge.

The first real mission in Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 is The Pitt challenge. This training ground let's players find their feet while storming an assault course packed full of fake enemy targets. The UK's Gadget Show which airs on channel 5 has actually built a real-life version of The Pitt map (h/t Kotaku) and intends to put it to the test next week when the show's presenter goes head-to-head on his Xbox 360 with a Special Forces solider who will be tackling the course for real.

The results of the challenge will be able to be seen on March 22nd if you live in the UK, but knowing the "power" of the Internet, it'll likely be posted shortly after.

LMFAO you would think they would pick something a bit more realistic than the arcade MW2
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Well considering tv shows need to be based on at the minuet popular items what other FPS would you suggest? Battlefield hasnt a fraction of the widespread exposure compared to MW2 so whats your suggestion?

The title of the thread is real life V virtual, im simply saying MW2 is as far from reality as possible therefore making it ridiculous.

    Who suggested BF?

I dont have a suggestion, that wasnt the point of my reply.
My point was to LOL @ MW2 and real life in the same sentence :)

I can't see the special forces guy jumping from a twelve foot roof, spinning 360°, bagging a target and landing without a wobble.:p

Rookie mistake. Cardboard targets dont have heartbeat sensors.

Could be fun! Console guy seems like an average player but soldier has "reality" working against him. Possibly a close contest :)

I wonder if the soldier will fail like me by shooting all the innocents - they all look the same!!!

    🤪

Eh yeah, that's what I was thinking too... how could you possibly think that MW2 was the real life part, and the replica was the virtual part?

    I'm seriously confused...

The guy on the computer (virtual) is going to race an ex-special forces guy (real life) around the same map, one of them is real, and the other is the actual game. Easy peasy.

I think special forces "sid" could edge it because he should be able to hit targets quicker than in the game.

I'd say it would come down to who knows the maps the best.

I can see the SF guy taking it tho. At least I hope so, for his sake.

    42.8 WTF!!

I wonder how changing tactics in the game to the static firing position would affect your times.

Why would you need a sound bar that cost £1000 just to run the pit?

Product placement and deal with Yamaha I would guess...

Found the run interesting. Wonder if the Professional switched his approach to run-and-gun, would he be quicker?

    🤪
