Hey guys, iv been looking at the fas business start up courses and they seems quite interesting. Im hoping to return to college in September, where ill be doing web design and graphic design. The fas course finishes up just before my college course starts. But my question is if i should do the business course before or after my college course? Or does it really matter?

Id hope to set up my own website and i was thinking the fas course could be of great help in terms of starting a business. My college course will do some small business development but i wouldnt say as detailed as Fas

Why wait? I think you should just go for it. It will give you a headstart working for yourself.

I doubt a web design course in college would cover much of the same content as the fas course.

Im kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Im unemployed at the moment and actively looking for work, this course is full time meaning i wont be working during the duration of the course. If i received any state benefits id jump at the course but seeing as i am still waiting for JSA to come through i havent a penny in my pocket. So im kinda confused about what to do.

Just a quick question instead of starting a new thread. Is it common for people to outsource work for certain projects? Like i hope to set up a specific website but with the material i study in college it wont be near enough for what i have in mind. So would it be logical for me to hire people to do the coding for the site while i do much of the other aspects of getting it up and running

    Hi Steve

Have a look at the courses an mentoring offered by your local Enterprise Board and get on their (e-)mailing list. Most Boards offer short evening course and many other cheap training options for start-ups and existing businesses throughout their development. All offer Start your own business courses normally delivered in the evenings 3 hours a week(6-8 weeks long generally).I work for one. www.enterpriseboards.ie

FAS have been responsible for robbing the community(the unemployed they proport to help) of full time paid tax returnable jobs for years.

I guess you could say we are all 'entrepreneurs' steve..no offence but FAS is the very reason there are so many qualified unemployed people out there.

They get paid millions by our government to steal jobs from the community.

FAS replace paid work vacancies with free labour ,fas is a scam dressed up as helping the poor when the reality is they consign the poor to a lifetime of poverty.

They even employ ex cons, don't do a FAS course unless you want your name smeared NOT ONE GRADUATE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED SINCE DOING A FAS COURSE..http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/kfkfojidauid/rss2/

and ..FAS will have you stuck between a rock and hard place for a long time steve :D

I never went for the course in the end, got a part time job which gave me full time hours up until i started college there in September. So im happy how things are for the minute, but cant see myself doing a FAS course in future anyways
