Probably not the right section but anyway. I want to watch a film online through my tele by hooking up a HD cable. I have hooked it all up and the picture is on the screen but the sound still comes from the laptop. A few months back I had the same problem but fixed it by changing something in the Sounds and Options in control panel. I dont remember what I done now though. Its wrecking my head!!! Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

You mean the station on the tele? No, its set to HDMI-1. The picture comes through perfect its just the sound stays coming from the laptop. Im nearly positive its something in control panel and sounds and options. I got my laptop wiped because of virus since then so dont know if settings are changed and it wont let me do that anymore.

Im using windows 7 but if you go to control panel, appearance and personalization then theres an option to connect to an external display, your answer might be found in there

right click on the little speaker icon in the system tray, then open playback devices, there you should see your speakers and another SPDIF device. click on the SPDIF device and then click 'set as default'. when you disconnect the tv then, go into playback devices and set the speakers as default, or you'll have no sound on your computer.
